He tried to drown his demons, only to find they could swim.

Life isn’t always fair. Llewellyn Gardner knows that first hand. He was on the fast track—college dreams, a boyfriend—until one night of extreme passion changed everything. Eight years later and out of prison, he still lives with the aftershocks of that night. Everywhere he turns there’s another reminder of the crime people insist he committed, so he runs away to a new town to start over.

For Shane Smith, Jr., owner of Smith Construction, there’s something about the gorgeous, misunderstood man with the overly expressive eyes and dark past. Shane sees the good in Llewellyn— it’s why he hired him—and he isn’t going to let the man cut himself off from the world.

Llewellyn isn’t sure what to think about Shane. After years of protecting himself from being tricked twice, he’s worried. What will happen if Shane doesn’t believe the truth about his past?

2nd edition

When I first read this story it wrung me out (click here for that review), but it got to me. I loved Llew. I felt for him, I rooted for him, and, ultimately, I just wanted so much happiness for him.

This is one of those stories that stayed with me. Reading it again, I loved it more the second time around. My emotions ran the gamut from fear for Llew, to sad, to angry, to hopeful, and ultimately to happy.

let me tell you about my feels

This story grabbed me by the throat from the first page. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Recommended

I am a sarcastic, opinionated and filthy-mouthed book addict/lover. I’m happiest when reading and I spend most of my time with my Kindle, which is never far from my hand.
I just love to be told a good story! I mostly read fiction: Romance, Erotica, Young Adult, New Adult, Paranormal (shifters? Yes, please!), I like a little BDSM when I’m in the mood and love a good ménage story. I go hetero too…I DEFINITELY PREFER A HFN/HEA!

My biggest no-no’s are cheating, miscommunication / misunderstanding plots, unnecessary angst, and cliffhangers.

A sampling of my “Favorite M/M” stories:

Perfect Imperfections Forging the Future Adulting 101 Tied Up In Knots Wolfsong
How to Walk Like A Man After School Activities When I Grow Up Carry the Ocean The Lightning-Struck Heart
Red Dirt Heart The Shearing Gun Manties in a Twist The Half of Us Dirty Heart
Ethan who Loved Carter Fast Connection The Mating of Michael Fight the Tide Sunset Park
