One Werewolf. One Vampire. One night.
Dem lives in a world ruled by two things: the moon and his alpha. Something inside of him has always yearned for more, and a chance encounter with a vampire helps Dem realise what he craves. Now that Dem knows what he wants, is he strong enough to reach out and take it?
Taking the stand is a short read so I could understand the pacing, despite that the ending pissed me off! It was abrupt and somewhat awkward, and while it somewhat resonated with the pace and style the author had built up to that point, it just felt rushed and just thrown in there.
There was no actual plot but there was a sort of character arc, seeing as Dem did come back to Mr. sadistic vampire Hottie -His name is Jeffery (sadly I have a friend called Jeffery who looks better than me in a dress and makeup. I kept picturing him the entire time, talk about awkward!)
I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that some people prefer painful sex- and by that, I mean sex with no lube (spit doesn’t count in this case) and an unwilling body. Seriously though, anal without lube is painful as fuck!
While it made me cringe I could see the appeal to those who wouldn’t be bothered by that, it was beautifully writing and just detailed enough to have someone’s body reacting to ‘nature’s call’
I loved Dem and Jeffery’s chemistry and I would have loved to see them outside the BDSM scene IDK like them having coffee together or something, but with Dem’s alpha being a douchebag I could see why the author didn’t include that.
It was a nice book nevertheless.
