In all his relationships, Darren Fielding never found the level of intimacy he witnessed between Thomas Williams and his sub, Peter, the day of Peter’s “rebirth.” Not only that, he never realized such intimacy was possible. For two years, Thomas’s business card has been burning a hole in his wallet. When Darren’s lover moves on, maybe it’s finally time to see where that card takes him.
Collars & Cuffs’ new barman, JJ Taylor, is really conflicted right now. He went to the club with a very specific purpose, already convinced of what he’d find there. Except it’s not what he expected at all. He certainly didn’t anticipate finding himself drawn to the new wannabe Dom. Nor could he have guessed the direction that attraction would lead him.
Old love, new love, vows, pain, rage, moving in, moving on…. The members of Collars & Cuffs face an event that touches some of them deeply, but it will only reinforce what they already know: together they are stronger, and some bonds cannot be broken.
“There is no real ending. It’s just the place where you stop the story.”
This feels like the end of an era. The Collars & Cuffs series has come to end. I’m not the biggest fan of the BDSM subgenre, but I can say without a doubt that this series is my absolute favorite in this category. There’s always sweetness and real emotion between the characters, and that’s what makes the difference for me. Endings and Beginnings came close to perfection. And it’s exactly how a series should end.
The authors couldn’t have chosen a more fitting title.Endings and Beginnings is about… well, endings and new beginnings. Everyone is here; all couples from the previous books, which gave me a sense of closure I hadn’t even realised I needed, plus a new romance to spice things up.
Everyone has come such a long way! Alex is no longer uncertain and awkward, but a confident, understanding and hard-working man. He and Leo are stronger than ever. Peter made me so proud in this book. Once again, he’s facing the painful past head-on, and wins every time. Thomas is always Peter’s safe place. I was happy to see that Scott is still his exuberant, bouncy but sweet and kind-hearted self. And soon-to-be Ben’s husband! Jarod….still down-to-earth and giving, and so happy he has a place that feels like home. Jarod and Eli have great things ahead of them. The cheeky “non-sub” Jeff was there too, and his experience with jock-straps is something to be remembered!
What I love the most is the sense of brotherhood among these people, especially the subs. They ‘re not just friends, they ‘re brothers. They are the family that they chose for themselves.
JJ and Darren are the new couple. I admit that I didn’t warm up to JJ until the end. He was always acting on impulse, making unfair assumptions, and hurting a lot of people in the process. Without ever staying to face the consequences. But in the end, JJ not only realises his mistakes, but he redeems himself. I felt that these were very powerful, emotional scenes, and a sort of catharsis for JJ.
Darren was simply amazing. If there is a thing like “a natural dom”, Darren is it. JJ and Darren are just starting their relationship and decide to venture into the BDSM world, under the guidance of the other members. It’s a journey and the reader gets to experience it with them; what works for them and what doesn’t, how far do they want to stretch their limits…The sex scenes are incredibly sexy and sensual at the same time.
Collars & Cuffs came to an end, but their characters will stay with me forever. And I, secretly, hope that the end of this series will maybe be the beginning of another. Very highly recommended!
NOTE: This book does not work as a standalone.
