Mac had to be out of his mind.
Completely out of his ever-loving mind to even consider rooming with Gideon. The same guy he kissed during his freshman year who said he was straight. He’s held Mac’s mind hostage for the last two years after running out that one special night. Mac was a fan of social experiments, and this one was going to be a doozy.
Gideon doesn’t sweat anything. He was always two lies ahead of everyone. A master at spinning rock solid alibis to protect the house of cards that was his life. To Browerton University, he’s the popular guy getting over a breakup. To his family…the dutiful and responsible son. But rooming with Mac was bringing up old memories and forming new ones. First, a friendship develops, and then a late night infused with alcohol pushes them into uncharted, benefits-laden waters.
As their sexual experimentation continues, and the lies add up, both of them fight to withstand the feelings growing between them, feelings that could ruin their friendship and topple Gideon’s house of cards for good.
Out of My Mind is the 3rd book in the Browerton University series, but can be read as a standalone. It contains humor, heart, and hot guys. This book is intended for readers 18+.
I so love this series. Each book has something different to offer but they are all such amazing pieces of work. AJ Truman just keeps bringing it, and with each book they just keep getting better and better.
One of the things that I love most about this series is the main characters do not just meet and instantly fall in love and everything just falls into place. With this series, it is more realistic in the fact that the characters have to work for what they end up with. They have to fight for the happiness that they want. They have to figure out if they want to be together or if they would be better apart. It is more like real life and that makes these books that more amazing.
Mac has not have an easy time of coming out as being gay. It caused issues with his parents which led him to living with his aunt and not being open about who he is with people he did not know and trust until he went to college. Once he went to Bowerton he decided no more hiding and he was ready to live his life in the open. The first guy he finds himself attracted too and makes a move on did not turn out the way he hoped it would. Gideon not only turned him down and told him he was straight but he also told Mac that could not be friends.
A couple of years later Gideon and Mac come face to face again when Gideon is in need of a roommate and Mac is in need of a place to live. It was a very rocky start but they both seemed to adjust and even started to become friends. Things started to change for Gideon when he could not stop noticing Mac and he kept dreaming about the two of them together. So he finally takes the plunge one night after drinking and things change between the two of them.
It is just an experiment that’s all. Or at least that is what they agreed on. But when you have feelings that get involved, one of the two people does not want to admit to those feelings, and definitely does not want anyone to know then there is bound to be problems. And so the problems began and now both Mac and Gideon have to fight for what they want or walk away. It is a very rocky road they both face and they may not come out of it without major bruises and cuts.
This book was so good that I could not put it down. With every issue that arises between both men I found myself bouncing with anticipation as to what they would do and if they could overcome that hurdle or next they was bound to face. I really hope there will be another book in this series because it is such an amazing series to read about. I am a huge fan if you cannot tell….lol.
