To bond with his destined mate, an Alpha wolf must look past what he sees and trust what he feels.
Bonded by their parents before they were conceived, wolf shifters Abel and Kai adored each other since they were children. As teens, the two future Alphas took the next step in their bonding process and vowed to remain true to one another until Kai came of age. But when tragedy struck, Abel felt betrayed and ran from Kai instead of completing their mating.
Abel never stops yearning for the man who was supposed to lead by his side and after years without contact, Kai returns, broken and on death’s door. If Abel wants to fulfill their destiny and merge their packs, he’ll need to look past what he saw and trust his heart.
Well…hmm…where should I start? Oh, yes. Misunderstandings. I HATE misunderstandings. I go bananas reading about MISUNDERSTANDINGS. Can you imagine how many partnerships were destroyed, how many relationships fell apart, how many nice people sank into deep depressions, because they were simply not ABLE TO TALK to each other!
I can assume, that communication in some rare cases could be difficult or even fail, but you have to deliver me a VERY good reason of it.
And to be an Alpha wolf is really a very shaky one. IMO.
So what we have here: two mates who were destined for each other, but DIDN’T communicate in time, didn’t clear up all misunderstandings and 10 years later we have two unhappy Alpha wolfs, and one of them even suicidal.
But as a genre requires, they find a way to each other at the end. BECAUSE they TALKED!
Why not 10 years earlier?! Especially if one considers how quickly and simply everything could be fixed.
No, I’m not a drama fan, but wasn’t the further course of events too speedy?
A soppy reunion scene, a quick revenge scene, a few MINE screaming at the end and…- HEA!
It is Cardeno, so you
1) you have to know what you put yourself into, and
2) you will have your healthy dose of HOOOT sex, with 100% guarantee.
Though a term healthy could be interpreted subjectively.
For the length of 1 hour and 50 min, the sex scenes were a bit too elongated.
Considering the time our mates spent apart (because of MISUNDERSTANDINGS) and the length of extended sex scenes there were not much plot left.
I love the narrating style of Robert M. Clark. However, at the beginning I had a problem trying to associate THIS voice timbre to an eighteen-year-old guy. VERY DIFFICULT. It was a voice of an old MASTER, or pardon, ALPHA WOLF. 10 years later, I didn’t have any problem with his voice, even the opposite.
And he proved that he could sound like a female and like a very submissive alpha.
I didn’t roll my eyes during listening to CARDENO’s novel!
I was too focused on his voice. This voice!..
It is why an extra star for the narration.
For sure not the best by Cardeno C., but it will find its fans too. A short hot read in between, though don’t expect too much plot.
If you have a possibility to choose between the editions, I’d recommend the audio book.
