After years struggling to realize his dream of directing a feature film, on the final night of his fundraising campaign Godard is on the cusp of having everything he ever wanted. The man he loves is upstairs waiting for him, and he’s just a few dollars short of his GoFundYourself goal.

Then everything falls apart.

His personal and professional life in ruins, when his old nemesis from film school offers to fund his dream project if he’s willing to shoot it in Spain, Godard knows it’s a deal with the devil. But he also has nothing left to lose.

Among the labyrinthine streets of Barcelona’s Barrio Góthico, the city’s vibrant music scene, and the sun-gilt beaches of the Costa Brava, Godard begins making shooting his dream project and putting his life back together, largely under the domineering gaze and deft touch of Ángel, the god of jazz.

But Ángel is keeping a secret, and a deal with the devil always comes at a price.

This story was the best!!!

The god of jazz is an amazing combination of sweet, sexy and a pot full of raw emotions. I could not get enough of the story or the principal characters of “Godard” and “Ángel”. This book is not short but still at the end, I wanted more. I am greedy for more of this couple, who made me fall in love over and over again. And that cover, just WOW!!!

Godard has always dreamed of directing his own film after graduating from USC. He has been caught up in real life of actually earning a living and has shelved his project for a long time. After his “Go Fund Yourself” approach bombed completely, Godard had lost all hope of ever realizing his dream. On top of that, his partner and “love of his life” for 5 long years dropped the bomb that he is leaving Godard for another man. Feeling betrayed and completely torn down, Godard accepts an offer from his ex, millionaire playboy Jordi Heizman to fulfil his dream to create his own film. Jordi will bankroll the entire project but the only catch being: Godard has to do the entire thing in Barcelona. And that’s where he meets his future: The GOD of JAZZ, Ángel Cardona.

Ángel is sex personified with his gorgeous eyes and a body to be envied. A true Spanish Dios. And when he picks up his trumpet, the soul of any listener is ensnared by his mesmerizing music. Godard falls in lust almost instantly.

When Ángel turns out to be the boom operator in the set of his film and thus a part of his crew, their trysts go on almost everyday. Godard is sure that his sexcapades with Ángel are purely casual. But inspite of everything his rational mind tells him, Godard knows his emotions for Ángel runs deep. But does Ángel feel the same about him??? Godard needs to overcome all his insecurities and trust the man with his whole heart to fall in LOVE and be happy again.

This entire story is in Godard’s POV (It’s not his real name. You need to read this book to find out*wink*) Godard is passionate and loyal and completely giving. He gets the worst of blows in the form of betrayal and I wanted to wring his ex’s neck for making my sweet and sensitive Godard cry. When he comes to Barcelona he has lots of doubts about how his movie will come along while also nursing a broken heart. His connection with Ángel is instant. I loved how they meshed together. Ángel made him happy and though there were many times when he had trust issues, Ángel handles each and every one of them with care and compassion. Along with the progress of his fiery lust for Ángel, we get to see him in his element directing his film and producing a sad but wonderful story, which made me cry.

“There is a reason you are not with Jordi or Michael now. Both of them taught you things that you will carry with you. Both of them helped make you the man you are now. And now, you are ready for something more. Something better. With someone who sees and appreciates your worth. Someone who will do everything they can to deserve you.” ~ Ángel

Ángel Cardona made my day. Is he sexy and gorgeous? HELL YES!!! but he was also the most loving and caring human being. He knew Godard had been burnt in the worst possible way and he is extremely patient and compassionate when those past hurts leads Godard to doubt him. He is straight forward about his past and his expectations of Godard. He is always there for Godard and I couldn’t love him enough. He is also a beast in the sack so yeah, Ángel IS THE COMPLETE PACKAGE. The happy couple made me smile and at times jump around with unbridled happiness. Godard and Ángel are made for each other and I am humbled for getting a chance to read about their romance.

“We are flawed. But we are flawed perfectly. All our worn and broken pieces fit together beautifully.”
“This love between us is a gift. I promise you, I will always cherish and care for it.” ~ Ángel

Along with the romance, the movie making is also a huge part of the story. The story of the film is given in bits and pieces as it is made and it was as involving and beautiful as was the actual romance. The detailed way in which the entire crew is shown laboring towards creating the film was truly amazing. A movie mostly runs for not more than 2 hours after which we are very eager to express our views, either positive or negative. But we never get to know the enormous effort the entire crew puts to create that 2 hours experience for us. Next time all readers would pause before passing any callous comments on any movie. At least I will. This story gave a detailed “Behind the Camera” experience that was as amazing as the actual story.

The secondary characters were another great element in the story. Godard is new in Barcelona and to his filming crew. But as they work together I loved how the bond between them grows and how they wholeheartedly support Godard after he goes through a terrible trial later in the story. The last scene where Godard delivers his speech at the premier was emotional and heart warming and I guarantee there will be no dry eyes after reading it.

For all smut lovers, the chemistry between Godard and Ángel is lava HOT. The mindless passion somehow always projected the LOVE between the lovely couple and I was extremely satisfied. Ángel with his sultry voice and sexy bossiness will make your heart beat a mile a minute. BEWARE: HE IS DANGEROUS*winks*

All in all, this read was an absolutely fantastic experience for me. The descriptive way in which the story is told was really great. I loved the writing very much. I am completely in love with Godard and Ángel and also the entire crew of the film except for the “one who shall not be named”(may he rot in hell!!) I will definitely love to read more from this author. Highly Recommend it!!!
