Since the death of his father, Trick Grigsby has fought to keep his head above water. Following in his father’s footsteps as a talented architect, he hopes to work his way up at the firm. Unfortunately, the company’s new owner barely resembles the man who was once Trick’s father’s best friend. Trick’s days are filled with drudgery and cruel remarks from the man who was supposed to be his mentor—along with his two sons, whose only jobs seem to be making Trick’s life miserable.
But all that is about to change.
Edwin Goodmaker struggled through his fairy godparent curriculum, but his mother—the reigning Fairy Queen—has a simple solution: Edwin will go to New York City and get some practical experience. When he meets Trick, Edwin knows he’s found a worthy charge, and he’s sure he can help Trick achieve all of his heart’s desires. Edwin falls for Trick, but with everything standing in their way, a fairy-tale ending might remain nothing more than a dream.
“His Fairy Godfather” is a refreshingly quirky and feel-good rendition of the classic fairytale “Cinderella”. The twist being, our “cinderfella” falling in love with his Fairy Godfather (in training) and not with prince Charming. So you can guess it’s going to be fun. This story is the best kind of fluff with lots of sweet and lovey moments leading to a beautiful HEA.
Trick is an architect and has been slaving away as a punching bag for his asshole boss and his incompetent twin sons for ten long years. He sticks to his job because the firm was originally his father’s and Trick wants to eventually save enough to buy in the business as a partner and restore his dad’s legacy. After a particularly bad day at office, on his way to home Trick saves a man from being run over by a cab. The next day he meets the same man again. He introduces himself as Edwin, a new comer to New York City. Trick promises Edwin to show him around the city but little does he know that his life is completely about to change.
Edwin is a fairy Godfather, in training. He is having trouble acquiring two necessary certifications before he can become a full-fledged Fairy Godfather. So his mom, the Fairy Queen, sends him to New York City to get hands on training and experience. Trick saves his life and Edwin can tell that he is need of some magic and help to achieve his heart’s desire. So, Edwin decides to be Trick’s Fairy Godfather. But what starts as his duty to help better Trick’s life changes to love as their relationship progresses. But Fairy Godfathers should not fall in love with their charge and thus Edwin is in a bind. He wants Trick but will be able to sacrifice his past life and magic to be with the man he loves??? Read and find out!!
Edwin is just so sweet and nice with always a smile to offer. He is naïve in the human ways and so adorably innocent. His lack of knowledge about most things Human was cute and I loved it. He is always there for Trick sometimes helping him out with his magic skills or just by just being himself. I adored him.
Trick is a man troubled. He struggles with his job and keeps on taking abuse after abuse from his douchebag employers. He has a goal in life and he endures everything in the hope to achieve it. Edwin comes as a good-luck charm in his life. Everything finally slots into their perfect places in his life with Edwin’s help. He gets back his company and falls in love with none other than his Fairy Godfather himself. But do not worry; he gets everything he deserves at the end, which was AWESOME!!!
I also loved the parts where Edwin uses his magic to help Trick. He conjures an entire Thanksgiving Dinner (that was a really handy trick!!) and just like “Cinderella”, Edwin also dresses up Trick in fancy clothes to prepare him for a party. But instead of falling for a successful CEO aka Prince Charming, Trick comes back and kisses his Fairy Godfather!!!
Overall, I loved this Fairytale romance. It’s a zero-angst, super sweet holiday romance and I will recommend it to all!!!
