The rules of the game don’t apply off the field in this first Barons novel.
New York Barons tight end Gavin Brawley is suspended from the team and on house arrest after a video of him brawling goes viral. Gavin already has a reputation as a jerk with a temper on and off the field—which doesn’t help him once he finds himself on the wrong side of the law. And while he’s been successful professionally, he’s never been lucky when it comes to love.
Noah Monroe is a recent college grad looking for a job—any job—to pay off his mounting student debt. Working as Gavin’s personal assistant/babysitter seems like easy money. But Noah isn’t prepared for the electrifying tension between him and the football player. He’s not sure if he’d rather argue with Gavin or tackle him to the floor. But both men know the score, and neither is sure what will happen once Gavin’s timeout is over…
Illegal Contact is a slow burn, emotional, beautifully written, passionate love story of Gavin and Noah and how they go from not liking each other to falling irrevocably in love.
The story is slow burn in the sense that their connection develops at a really slow pace. Even though Gavin and Noah are attracted to each other they don’t show it nor act on it but rather go on acting as if they don’t like each other. What I really loved about the story is the way the author developed their relationship. It was at a really slow pace but it was really satisfying. Both Gavin and Noah spent time getting to know each other and realized that so much of their perceptions about each other were wrong. They got to know each other and that’s what eventually made them fall in love. I really loved that the author developed their bond before making them act on their sexual chemistry. They both had a lot of layers which were unearthed as the story moved forward. They had their own ups and downs like any relationship but they resolved them in a way that made me root for them. By the time I finished reading the book I completely fell in love with them both. The book is also having really well written secondary characters who contributed to the progression of the story really well.
Illegal Contact is a beautifully crafted love story that will capture your heart. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Highly Recommended.
