A Book in the Home Series

Imposing, temperamental Noah Forman wakes up in a hospital and can’t remember how he got there. He holds it together, taking comfort in the fact that the man he has loved since childhood is on the way. But when his one and only finally arrives, Noah is horrified to discover that he doesn’t remember anything from the past three years.

Loyal, serious Clark Lehman built a life around the person who insisted from their first meeting that they were meant to be together. Now, years later, two men whose love has never faltered must relive their most treasured and most painful moments in order to recover lost memories and secure their future.

Belens Audio Book Review

There’s some kind of magic to Cardeno C.’s stories. With every re-read I find a new angle, or a new understanding of the story, which makes it all fresh and new.

The story spans from 1996 to January, 2011 and grabbed me from the first page. This romance takes the reader on a journey along with the characters from the first moment Noah and Clark meet, what they go through to be with one another, to the moment it all went wrong, and how they make their way back to one another. There’s a lot of sex, a lot of growly “MINE!”, and a lot of love.

There’s a moment in the story, I’m not going to give it away, when I felt like killing Noah. I couldn’t believe his reasoning for such stupidity. Then Clark not only forgives him, but he APOLOGIZES. I. Lose. My. Mind. Seriously – lose it every time…screaming, wanting to grab up Clark and shake him and then punt Noah right in the ‘nads and make him grovel and crawl.

people make mistakes

THIS. This is what Cardeno’s writing does to me. It drags me in and makes me think these characters are real. It sucks me down every time, and every time I find something new to appreciate about it.

I love Alexander Collins’ narration of this series. Collins purring out “Angel” to Clark is endearing, and hearing him growl out Noah’s possessiveness of Clark is just hot. The audio is a great way to experience this story. If you are looking for a romance with great narration, charismatic characters, lots of mind-meltingly hot sex, and a lot of emotion – make sure to grab this up.

Sometimes to find love, you must first learn forgiveness.

A dozen years, 2,000 miles, and a law degree after high school, Rafi Steiner continues to harbor resentment toward Isaac Jones, his childhood bully turned NBA star. When Isaac appears at Rafi’s favorite restaurant acting like a long-lost friend, Rafi bluntly dismisses him.

But Isaac is tenacious and he has his heart set on the grown-up version of the boy he always wanted and never forgot. The way Isaac sees it, he and Rafi are perfect for each other, if only he could sink the most important shot of his life: his one shot at forgiveness.

Belens Audio Book Review

Let me start by getting some fangirling out of the way…Robert M. Clark’s narration for this is a SLAM DUNK! He brought Rafi and Isaac to life. I was absolutely impressed and can only say the narration was so good for this short story that as soon as it ended I immediately started it over and listened again.

slam dunk

My original review.

What I love most about this sweet short (now my 7th time re-reading) is how I find something new to appreciate about it every time I read, or now listen to, it.

I love how Rafi is snarky, sarcastic and absolutely not interested in anything Isaac Jones has to say at first. I melt every time with how fully committed and absolutely determined Isaac is to win over the one man he’s always wanted.

“I’ve wanted you since the first moment I realized what it meant to want,” he said, reminding me that he’d been harboring feelings for much longer than the couple of weeks since we’d reconnected, or even the six months since he’s decided he wanted to pursue me. “I do know you, Rafi. I watched you grow up. I know who you are inside. And you know me too.”

This sweet enemies-to-lovers is funny, smolderingly sexy, sweet, and fluffy!

Two Alpha shifters join together to lead their pack and build a family.

Commitment, loyalty, and strength aren’t enough to make Wesley Stone’s birth pack accept an Alpha with a physical imperfection, even if it’s a meaningless mark. Putting the safety of his pack above his own wellbeing, Wesley trades himself for another Alpha and agrees to mate with a stranger in a mysterious, insular pack.

Alphas from Jobe Root’s family have led the Red River pack from the first day shifters walked the earth. Now the time has come for Jobe to fulfill his destiny, but to do that, he needs his mate by his side. Spiritual, easygoing Jobe reveres Mother Nature and trusts in fate, yet he can’t help being nervous about how his mate will react to his new life in Red River, his new life with Jobe.

Two Alphas with contrasting personalities, different upbringings, and divergent beliefs come together for the good of their packs. But to stay together, Wesley and Jobe must see beyond the surface and embrace every facet of themselves and their union.

Red River is the second book in the Pack series, the first being Blue Mountain. This book can be read as a standalone.

Belens Audio Book Review

I LOVE THIS STORY! This shifter story holds the elements of shifter lore that is my crack. For my original spoiler-free review – click here.

Wesley is an alpha wolf who’s shunned by his pack because of an odd scar on his abdomen he’s had since birth. Jobe is an alpha wolf who’s been patiently waiting for his mate to come to him.

When Jobe’s Red River pack makes an offer to Wes’s Purple Sky pack to trade alphas everyone is happy about the exchange except for Wes.

“Red River has an Alpha wolf they won’t accept as their Alpha. Our pack feels the same way about you. So Brian Berger will come take over for me, and in exchange, you’ll go to Red River and lead a pack, like you’ve always wanted.”

Wes will lead a pack, but he has to mate with a stranger in order to do it. There’s some anger on Wes’s part for feeling like he’s been sold to Red River. There’s also confusion because Wes and his pack have strayed from the old belief’s and customs for so long that they don’t even remember the old ways any more. Not the way Jobe and the Red River pack do.

Jobe’s Red River pack is tied deeply to the land and the nature surrounding it. They remember and practice the old ways and have not only survived, but thrived. Jobe knows Wes is his mate and perfect for him and their pack. When the two come together there’s great UST and a slow burn romance which eventually heats up for some major satisfaction.

hot touch

There were so many things I loved about this story. I love how Jobe’s presence and calm is able to comfort Wes. I love how patient Jobe is with Wes until he finally sees. I absolutely love their HEA.

Nick J. Russo is a favorite narrator of mine. He just knows how to pace a story properly, to really infuse emotion into the character’s voices and tell the story in such a way it wraps me up and doesn’t just sound like he’s only reading from a page.

Nick manages to capture Wesley’s confusion, hurt, anger, and his longing for Jobe. He conveys Jobe’s peace, calm, love and passion beautifully.

It’s a terrific audio for an awesome story and it’s definitely going on my repeat schedule!
