Blurb:

Geoffrey Ralse is known for being the life of the party. He loves the club scene, hanging with his friends, and flirting with whomever catches his eye. He certainly isn’t going to stop living his life just because some would-be stalker starts sending him threats.

But it all changes when Geoffrey is drugged and wakes up half naked in his own home with a new message from his stalker.

He needs help and there’s only one person he trusts…

Protective Agent Sven Larsen has been fighting Geoffrey’s flirtatious advances for months, even though he’s impossibly drawn to the man. There’s no way he can be around him twenty-four/seven and not finally crack. But one look at Geoffrey’s haunted eyes, and he knows there’s no way he’s letting Geoffrey walk out of Ward Security without him.

Even if it means breaking his own rules, he will keep Geoffrey safe.

Trigger warning: There is a very short section with sexual assault that some could find upsetting.

Disclosure: I haven’t read the Unbreakable Bonds series by Drake and Elliott, so I was unfamiliar with most of the secondary characters in this story (Lucas, Andrei, Ashton, Rowan, Noah … yeah, I don’t know who these people are) but it was easy to read this book as a stand-alone.

I really, really, had a great time reading this story of Sven – tall, bearded, blonde gorgeous Norwegian bodyguard – and Geoffrey – cute coding geek who strikes it rich with a hookup app Matinee. Geoffrey has a huge social media presence and he spends a lot of time posting pictures of himself clubbing and brunching with a large group of friends. But when Geoffrey acquires a really creepy stalker, the only person he trusts to keep him safe is Sven, his 6’7″ self-defense trainer from Ward Security.

On the surface the two men don’t have much in common, but they both yearn for a real relationship full of the joys of enjoying everyday life with someone they love. Geoffrey comes to realize that of all his “friends” there are only a few that he would trust with his brother Finn:

So he didn’t have a close group of friends that he told all his secrets and fears to. Or even one. Not everyone did. He had Finn. And he had his work. There was nothing wrong with the way he lived. The aching loneliness he lived with deep in his heart said differently.

When Sven moves in with Geoffrey to best protect him, there is a strong physical attraction and sexual sizzle, but the bedrock of their relationship slowly develops. Sven uncovers Geoffrey’s hidden sweetness and Geoffrey looks beyond the facade and sees Sven’s kindness and loyalty.

“You’re beautiful, Geoffrey,” Sven said quietly. “Inside and out.”
“You’re the only person who has ever taken the time to truly pay attention to me. To truly look at me and see beyond the surface of just another clichéd twink.”
Sven couldn’t stop his snort. “I’m a six-foot-seven blond Norwegian named Sven. I dare you to out-cliché that one.”
“True. You win.” White teeth flashed as he laughed.
“Brat,” he said fondly as he firmly pulled Geoffrey closer and slowly, slowly licked the water off those sexy lips.

The mystery of Geoffrey’s stalker unfolds beautifully and really held my interest throughout. The authors did an exemplary job of showing the terror of being watched by someone, having someone invade your home, of being drugged and sexually assaulted.

I loved the writing and the way the relationship unfolded and grew, and the mystery plot was suspenseful. 4.5 stars for Psycho Romeo and I’ve got the entire Unbreakable Bonds series on my “To Read” list!

Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.  Frederick Douglas

I distinctly remember that day in school when, all of a sudden, those squiggles on the page made sense and I could read. It has changed my life in ways I still cannot comprehend.

My favorite M/M tropes are friends-to-lovers, murder/mysteries, amnesia, hurt/healing and historicals. Shifters, vampires, paranormal? Meh … not in my wheelhouse, but I’m a sucker for a well-written well-plotted book, no matter the genre.

Favorite authors includes Brandon Witt, Rick R. Reed, Abigail Roux, Jay Northcote, JL Merrow, KJ Charles, Lane Hayes, Marshall Thornton and so many more.
