Can two men fake their way to marital bliss?

Caleb Taylor is shocked to learn his family could lose Bliss Island Resort — their home and livelihood — unless he makes use of a clause to marry the child of investor Louis Chastain. Sofia Chastain is more like a sister than a love interest, and Caleb isn’t ready to sign over his future. But Sofia has a brother, and Caleb has a plan …

Julien Chastain was disowned at fifteen and has made a life as a go-go dancer in Miami, but he lives paycheck to paycheck. When his childhood friend proposes an outlandish marriage contract, he thinks he’s crazy. But it’s a chance at a future that’s tough to pass up.

Caleb and Julien must present themselves as an authentic couple for the legal loophole to work, but the lines between “fake” and “real” keep shifting as they navigate intimacy, public scrutiny, and sabotage.

Love isn’t part of the plan, but plans change. If they can outsmart Julien’s father and prove their love is worth more than a transaction, they just might find a true happily-ever-after.

Surprise Groom is a dual POV, marriage contract turns real romance, with amazing character arcs, smart dialogue, hot sex, a great supporting cast including a gross villain ready to ruin everything, and a happy ending.

I absolutely loved the first 85% of Surprise Groom.

The fact that they knew Louis was planning something and still Julien fell for his bullshit and leaves Caleb without a word had me literally screaming.

I despise when miscommunication seems to be used purely for drama or angst, so it really impacted my feelings for the story. If this was going by how I felt immediately after I finished, I would’ve given it 2 stars. But it doesn’t deserve that, because this is a good book, a great book if you ignore the bullshit break up part that just didn’t work for me.

Miscommunication made the happy ending bittersweet for me, because I was still too mad to enjoy it fully.

If you are looking for a really sweet, steamy, and entertaining read with a happy ending I would 100% recommend this to anyone who loves that little bit of angst that comes from miscommunication, or even those who just plain don’t mind miscommunication at all. I would still recommend, but caution those like me to be prepared so it doesn’t ruin it for you.

I am an unapologetic book addict/lover. I'm happiest when reading and I spend most of my time with my Kindle, which is never far from my hand. I love to be told a good story! I mostly read fiction: Romance, Erotica, Young Adult, New Adult, Paranormal (shifters? Yes, please!), a little BDSM when I'm in the mood, and I love a good ménage story. I DEFINITELY PREFER A HFN/HEA! My biggest no-no's are cheating, miscommunication / misunderstanding plots, unnecessary angst, and cliffhangers.
