Summary Review: Take a walk on the wild side with two of my favourite Sean Michael characters.

Dillon and Dal from Secrets, Skin and Leather are back for this smoking hot short. Dillon’s attending a dreadfully dull cocktail party when their host introduces him to dour, no nonsense businessman Scott Daly. However, Dillon needs no introduction, for he knows, and shares, Scott Daly’s secret.
The evening is suddenly looking much brighter, if only the two men can escape the soiree and keep their secret intact.

This very short sequel is almost as hot as Secrets, Skin and Leather reviewed here and it features Sean Michael’s trademark of well drawn characters who can’t stay away from each other, in and out of bed.

Dillon Walsh was being wined and dined at the After Hours Club by Tad Bremmer, President of Actel, who was desperate for investors to shore up his failing company. Dillon was bored until he spied Scott Daly, one of the best brokers in the business, who looked like the typical prim and proper, buttoned down, forgettable businessman, but Dillon knew what Scott looked like under that unappetising, dull, dark, lifeless suit – an amazing body that just wouldn’t quit.

It was several weeks since lovers Dillon and Scott last met and they pretended that they were merely acquaintances because of the type of function they were attending, but when Dillon showed up at Scott’s hotel room later that evening all bets and clothes were off. Dillon was addicted to Dal, as he was known on the fetish scene, and their games were no holds barred. Their toys of choice this time were nipple clamps, plugs and cock rings and of course Dal’s latest in his favourite choice in underwear, a white corset which was so tight it hugged his body like a second skin. The sex was incredible and as always their games were high intensity, but Dillon’s favourite toy was Dal’s body which he used as his playground. This was a great start to a whole weekend together with room service and their toy box.
Sean Michael’s characterizations always fascinate me before I get to the ever present sex in his books, and Dal and Dillon are two of my favourite protagonists because they are major players in the world of multi million dollar investment in troubled companies and selling them off at a significant profit, but in private their sex is kink and fetish. This author’s prose is some of the best and it sucks me in to his stories and keeps me there until the end.
If you only enjoy M/M books with vanilla sex, Secret Skin and its precursor will not be of interest to you because this author pushes the sexual envelope. For those of you who are more adventurous, I would highly recommend both books for a little walk on the wild side. My only complaint is that this book is way too short – I would have loved to spend more time with Dillon and Dal.
Secret Skin is not a standalone story and you have to read Secrets, Skin and Leather first before you crack open this little gem.  Secret Skin was first released in 2007.

  • I got an email from Torquere the other night announcing this short and I bought it so fast my computer was smoking…LOL. Hot, hot, hot, I’m with you, Wave, I just love Dillon and Dal especially when Dal takes off his contacts and bats his blue-kohl-rimmed eyes at Dillon. YUM! This is one steaming hot pair and I would love to read more about them–this story was great but like you said, too short!

    • Hi Leslie
I wish Sean would write another book about this couple because they are so great together. Maybe I’ll write and ask him whether he has any plans to do so. He writes lots of Jarhead books so I don’t see why he wouldn’t want to do so for Dal and Dillon. pout

I guess you don’t read only vanilla sex since you became a Sean Michael fan. 🙂

      • I read non-vanilla sex before but this pair pushes all my personal kinky buttons perfectly, and I just can’t get enough of them. 🙂

  • Sean Michael is not for me, I tried honestly but there is too much smut to my taste and the conversation only exits of three words.

  • Alexi
I just love how that man writes and this book is one of my all time fave Sean Michael reads. I think I wore out the pages, I’ve read it so many times. 🙂 I didn’t realize that you were kinky too. 🙂

    • He’s one of my all-time faves, and an auto buy. He’s also one of the very, very few authors who (in my opinion, and from my experience of the scene) writes BDSM right. Even when his stuff pushes the envelope physically, he shows how the important thing is the connection mentally between sub and dom; the way a dom needs to make a safe place emotionally and physically for a sub to totally surrender and enter their headspace. And that’s why I LOVE him.

      • One of his books that I really loved – Forged – involved a protagonists who was physically challenged and his dom. I thought it was a real stretch for Sean to write a story about a couple like Jeremy and Simon. He’s probably the only author who can include as much sex in his books and I will still love them.

        • YES! Oh my God, I’ve read that one sooo many times. But my favourite is Spoken, just because it shows how submitting can give a sub the power to be honest – and how any D/s relationship needs to be set by what works for the sub, not the dom.

I just received Catching a Second Wind in prc so the review should be along in a couple of weeks. I didn’t want to read it again on my computer.

    I promise!!!

  • Hi Wave,
A walk on the wild side with Sean Michael –
    Everytime !
I`m with you, his prose is some of the best.
You like him or you dislike him with nothing in between.
    Thanks for the review.

    • Hi Simsala
He is one of my favourite authors but he has many detractors because there is so much sex in his books. Even though I don’t like too much sex in M/M books he is one of the few authors who makes this enjoyable for me.

However, I must point out again that this little short is not a standalone, and if you haven’t read Secrets, Skin and Leather (which is an old favourite of mine as you can tell from the review) it is absolutely necessary that you do so before reading Secret Skin.

I hope you get both books because they are definitely a walk on the wild side. 🙂

        • LOL. I never would have guessed. I thought Lily and I, and lately Leslie who has just discovered Sean, were maybe the few fans that he had on this site. 🙂

          • And who`s the one bitching and whining about a
(still missing !) review of Catching a Second Wind ?
            That`s me ! *g*

          • Add me to the list! I love him. I bought the Toybox Anthology that this story was featured in just so I could read about Dillon and Dal again.
