A nice ‘they meet, fall in love and live HEA’ story that could have been so much more interesting if the suspense thread hadn’t been dropped.
Book two in the Perfect Love series
The search to find the one man destined to complete his life has sent Ethan to places high and low. What will it take to find his perfect partner?
Ethan Harrison has wonderful friends and a rewarding career, but he feels something is still missing. He’s yet to find the man that makes his fantasies reality and soul find peace.
All that changes when a complicated case of economic espionage comes across his desk, and Special Agent Ryan Ashton walks through his office door. Life however is no fantasy and Ethan and Ryan’s journey is much more complicated than a storybook.
Will the two men be able to hold on to their love or will a defendant bent on revenge have the final judgement?
Perfect Love Series
Ethan Harrison, a lawyer working at the U.S. Attorney’s office, knows he’s met the man of his dreams when FBI Special Agent Ryan Ashton walks into his office. They’ll be working on a case of economic espionage together and almost immediately sparks fly. Intensely attracted to each other it’s not long before the men are involved physically and quickly thereafter emotionally. As they work to stop a man from selling secrets to China their relationship flourishes. When Ethan is viciously attacked Ryan is there to care for his man and later together they get the job done and more importantly they realize just how perfect they are for each other and look forward to a happy and loving future together.
His Perfect Partner is the second book in the Perfect Love series but can be read as a standalone. It’s an entertaining story filled with really nice likable characters, not much angst but plenty of sweetness, perhaps a bit too much. Like the title says these are nearly “perfect” men. They’re tall, handsome, with great bodies but are also smart, well liked, sexy and aside from Ethan’s family being cold and unloving everyone else loves them. Ryan’s family, Ethan’s friends and coworkers, all are very accepting of the men and their relationship.
This is essentially a ‘boy meets boy, they fall in love and soon wedding bells are ringing’ story. Despite the espionage plot there is very little suspense or action in the story. There are a couple of threatening phone calls after the attack and then a scene at the trial and that’s it. Most of the book is about the Ryan and Ethan’s developing relationship. I did like that the author kept mentioning the passage of time so that while it felt like insta-love in fact weeks would pass by in some chapters.
This story should appeal to a wide range of readers. The writing is solid although there are a few editing issues throughout and the characters are likable and interesting even though there’s not much growth to them. Their relationship is sweet and tender as well as quite sexy and hot and I also enjoyed their interactions with most of the supporting casts.
His Perfect Partner is a quick and easy read. It’s entertaining although if you’re looking for lots of suspense and action you’ll be disappointed. However, if you’re just looking for a romantic love story with minimal angst, lots of hot sex as well as some sweet tender moments this could be for you.
