Brief Encounters Reviews

Do you love short stories? If you do, you’re in for a treat.

Jenre and Tam have just set up a website devoted to reviewing ‘shorts,’ called Brief Encounters Reviews. I think it’s a great idea because so many of us love short stories but we can’t find reviews of them since most review sites, including this one, concentrate mostly on novellas and novels. Brief Encounters will be a boon to those readers who are either in a hurry, or are looking for a quick read before bedtime or at lunch but don’t know which stories to buy. Congratulations to Tam and Jenre and I will be visiting a lot. The guys here laugh at me because I’m always complaining that every book I read is over 200 pages while I wish they were short enough to be on Twitter (well not quite that short) lol and I’m sure that many of you love shorts as well.

Brief Encounters, which makes me think of  ‘nooners’ 🙂 – not that I would know anything about that, is the place to visit for reviews of  stories from 3K and up so if you’re an author and would like your short story reviewed please check out the website at

  • I second what Tam said :). Thanks Wave for this wonderful publicity and also for everyone who has visited the site and stopped by to say hi.

  • I’ve already been over there and I must say I like the site. Hopefully I’ll be able to put it to good use when it comes to the point… 🙂
Congratulations Jenre and Tam, your concept is well received throughout, from what I’ve heard. Live long and prosper!

  • Thanks so much for the promo Wave. I think it’s going to be great fun. Authors are welcome to submit their stories (the guidelines are on the site), but I just want to say that in December we are focusing on Christmas stories, or trying to, so be patient if you submit a story that is not Christmas themes. We’ll get back to “normal” business in January and remember we are only two (with an occasional guest post by pettyprose) and we have real lives too, so don’t panic if we don’t review your story within minutes of receiving it. 🙂 We are striving to do a minimum of two reviews per day and we’ll see how it goes.

We also buy many of our own stories as well, so authors may find their stories popping up without knowing about us as a surprise. Hopefully a pleasant one.

Please comment! We'd love to hear from you.
