History isn’t always what it seems…

Twelve months after his change, Alec MacAidan is still getting used to his many vampire talents. While most vampires would give anything to have more than one supernatural power, Alec craves nothing more than peace and time alone with Cronin. But when Alec meets entities from outside this realm, he’s left powerless in their presence.

Zoan are half-lycan, half-dragon creatures that have slipped through time and reality, seemingly undetected by man and vampire. Or have they? They bear an uncanny resemblance to gargoyles, leaving Alec’s view on all things weird to get a whole lot weirder.

This new quest leads Alec, Cronin, and their band of friends to Paris, Rome, and Moscow, where they learn that gargoyles aren’t simply statues on walls. In the underground pits beneath churches all over the world, Alec discovers the Key’s true destiny. Facing the Zoan might take every talent he has. And he may need help from the dead to get them all out alive.

Alec went through his change a year ago and became Cronin’s husband just six months ago. He and Cronin are happy together, but since their wedding, they barely had some time to themselves.

Alec is the only vampire ever to have all vampire talents and he’s still discovering some of them. The process of exploring and documenting his abilities is exhausting and Alec is looking for nothing more than quiet and peace with his beloved one. However, it becomes even more difficult to achieve when Zoan, dangerous half-lycan, half-dragon creatures, come through a portal and the key, once again, has to fulfill his duty and save the world.

“I love it when you call me that,” Alec whispered, his heart too big for his chest. “M’cridhe.”

“My husband, my heart,” Cronin repeated, the words barely a murmur.

There’s lots of sweet, tender moments, humor and feels. As always, I loved the action. I never got bored with all the new information and history. I was excited to see

Johan again and see that he met his fated one in afterlife.
Also, my eyes watered a little bit, because

Adelmo and my cute little Jorge died.
But in the end, I’m glad that Alec and Cronin finally have the peace they wanted for such a long time. After what they experienced, they most certainly deserve it.

A key for the key. Cronin’s key.
