Recently returned to the UK after living in the States since he was eleven, Andrew Barrett is determined to keep busy and make a new life for himself. He works full time as a copywriter and strips at a club on Canal Street on weekends. But it still leaves him too much time to think. Then he finds the BDSM club, Collars & Cuffs, where at twenty-nine, he is their youngest Dom. Young doesn’t mean inexperienced, however. All this activity keeps him focused with no time to dwell on the past. But the past has a way of intruding on the present.
It’s been four long years since Gareth Michaels last set foot inside Collars & Cuffs. But when he finally summons his courage and steps back into his former world, he finds the man who drove him away is still a member, and what’s more, he wants Gareth back. Two men in pain need the freedom they find in each other, but it takes another man’s horrific plans to make them see it
Welcome Back to “Collars and Cuffs” — First I have to say, don’t you just love that cover?? Yum!!
In this book we meet a new couple, Andrew and Gareth. Andrew is back in the U.K. after living abroad in the U.S. and he is looking to get back into the BDSM scene. He is an experienced Dom who has played in some notorious clubs, however these two do not become a couple until midway through the book. This book is different too because the two MC meet in a different setting from “Collars and Cuffs” — where you might ask? Well a strip club of course (Hence the cover). Gareth, is a submissive who is working as a stripper and meets Andrew at the strip club. Gareth is without a Dom at this time due to past traumatic events and hasn’t been on the “scene” since losing his previous Dom.
I enjoyed this book beyond the fact that we do not see much D/s action between the two main characters. This was a little disappointing as this is a book in a BDSM series. If I am being honest, the lack of this interaction resulted in the loss of a star on my overall review.
The book is told from alternating POV’s which I did like.. I really enjoy getting into the head of both MC. The conflict in this book was a little bit of a let down – and it didn’t seem like it was fully resolved as I thought the book was rushed at the ending. However, the book was full of erotic situations such as some pretty intense lap dances not to mention a hot as hell scene.
Other characters we get to see again in this book include: Master Leo and his submissive Alex, Thomas and his submissive Peter, and Ben and his submissive Scott. As always it was great catching up with each couple.
The audiobook was done really well by Nick J. Russo. I love the way he can take characters and give them a personality with flaws and all. His tone, inflection, cadence and overall quality of production is always spot on and this book was no different. Stellar audio!
A solid 4 star book and a great addition to the Collars and Cuffs series.
