Don’t start something you can’t finish.
It’s a cliché, but 22-year-old graffiti artist Christian lives by those words. He’s going away when he graduates from art school in just six short months. With so little time left, getting involved with gorgeous Shea Nolan has to be a mistake. If only he could make himself stay away from the sweet, sexy police officer.
Christian has a decision to make. Are a few months of happiness worth the inevitable heartbreak when it’s time to walk away?
Against the Wall is the seventh book in Alexa Land’s best-selling Firsts and Forever series, but each book can stand alone, so jump in anywhere.
Note: Though this is the 7th book in the series, it may also be read as a stand-alone.
So…not my favorite. At first blush this has all the elements that would usually thrill me. Find your soul mate, who’s a hot, virgin cop, but have a set time limit on any romantic inclinations? Umm hmm. Sign me up!
I’ve been waiting for Christian’s story since I read Salvation. If it weren’t for two things I probably would have enjoyed this more. But those two things…
First there’s the whole suspense buildup to some mysterious “great big thing”, a plot device I am really not a fan of at all. Look. I’ve said it before, when the reader is teased throughout a story? I hate it. It rarely serves to titillate and draw me in, more often than not it serves to annoy the ever loving hell out of me and drive me away. Case in point: the reason for Christian’s required leaving in June. Uh, huh.
Then there was the story’s mad dash to the end. The story flows easily through the sixty percent mark. Our heroes meet, fall in love, have spectacularly hot sex, there’s humor and feels, frankly, everything I’ve come to expect from this series…then, BAM! The Big Reveal, time jumps and super speed to the end. Which…again not a fan.
Anyway, other than my two very personal issues, I enjoyed the story. I liked that this time the cop is the virgin, there’s lots of feels, hot sex, and (as usual) some humor. So I’m still addicted to the series.
On to the rest!
