David Fisher has lived by the rules all his life. Born to a Mennonite family, he obeyed his father and took over the family farm, married, and had two children. Now with both his kids in college and his wife deceased, he runs his farm alone and without joy, counting off the days of a life half-lived.
Christie Landon, graphic designer, Manhattanite, and fierce gay party boy, needs a change. Now thirty, he figures it’s time to grow up and think about his future. When his best friend overdoses, Christie resolves to take a break from the city. He heads to a small house in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, to rest, recoup, and reflect.
But life in the country is boring despite glimpses of the hunky silver fox next door. When Christie’s creativity latches on to cooking, he decides to approach his widower neighbor with a plan to share meals and grocery expenses. David agrees, and soon the odd couple finds they really enjoy spending time together.
Christie challenges the boundaries of David’s closed world and brings out feelings he buried long ago. If he can break free of the past, he might find a second chance at happiness.
A recipe for the most adorable and sweet m/m story:
1. Take a 41 year old silver fox, with an extremely compassionate heart and a whole lot of repressed emotions. 2. Mix with that a 30 year old twink with big blue eyes, looking for FOREVER. 3. Add a whole lot of cuisines from around the world. 4. Add a bunch of awkward/sweet moments of two people trying to know one another and unable to fight their attraction. 5. Add a cup of “SEXY” and “Passionate” Love making. 6. A pinch of some self-righteous bigots for sourness. 7. A very generous amount of love.
Mix everything properly to get the perfect gooey texture and serve it HOT on a Kindle. There, you have the recipe for “A Second Harvest” by Eli Easton.
BOY, this book was the greatest!!! I have read a lot of books, be it m/m or m/f with couples having quite an age difference but this book just felt exceptionally good. This read was about a second chance in happiness and living life for your own and not for the society, who condemn you for your sexual preferences based on a twisted view of right and wrong. Plus, this read has the sexiest “Silver Fox” EVER!!! David Fisher was super sweet and adorably awkward and shy when it came to Christie Landon, but he was a tiger when he let his emotions flow.
David Fisher has followed the society’s rules all his life. He has been forced to grow up at a very young age and strapped with responsibilities that mostly killed his dreams. His church and community abhor the Homosexuals, so all his life David has kept his desires under lock and key. Now after the death of his wife, he is all alone in his home trying to live a life which is stifling him to death. But he never acknowledges these feelings unless and until he meets Christie Landon. Their start is not so smooth. David feels unbalanced when it comes to Christie. Christie is from the city and from a completely different world than David. He never even work it out that Christie is gay, but around that guy he can finally be himself and David starts cherishing their friendship more than anything.
David has shoved his feelings and desires to the darkest recesses of his heart. He has never tried to act on them, afraid of it being all too real. But with Christie he finally has to acknowledge his true self. David is a solid guy with a big heart with a great sense of duty and responsibility, be it for his kids or for Christie. His struggle to make his kids understand about his new reality was really emotional, but at the end i was happy that his kids do not let him down.
The Fierce Christie Landon is a party animal. His relationships last for just a blow job or an occasional fuck in the club bathroom. He gets a huge wakeup call and is determined to turn his life around for the better. Christie is attracted to David from the first time he meets his sexy neighbor. He knows he is setting himself up for heartbreak but he is not ready to let his friendship with David go. He was so patient with David and so very supportive in helping him transition to a new life. And his cooking was divine, which in my book is the biggest point in my pro list.
This book made me hungry for all the food that was featured here. I am an Indian so the Chicken Tikka Masala and naan was my first order from the restaurant on the first night i started reading this book. It was HEAVEN!!!
Just look at this:
I tried to make the cookies with the recipe provide by the author at the end of the book and they came out pretty good (not like Christie’s, mind you!!)
So, this book in total made for a great read. Acknowledging and standing up for your true feelings is a very brave thing to do and David here was AMAZING for that. A very sweet and touching story about coming out and second chances. LOVED IT!!!!
