Politics, puppy dogs, and passion, oh my!
When his Republican opponent outs him with a photo in a Facebook post, Senator Samuel Dalton doesn’t have many options open to him. It doesn’t matter that the photo is totally innocent. He has no choice but to come clean… until his staff suggest putting a spin on it that leaves Sam reeling.
Sure, he’ll end up with a lot of sympathy, not to mention the possibility of more voters from the LGBT community, but it still seems a pretty drastic solution.
Now all they have to do is persuade Gary, the other man in the photo, to play along. It sounds so easy: convince the constituents of North Carolina that he and Sam are engaged.
No big deal, except for the fact that they’ve only just met….
Senator, Samuel Dalton is up for re-election when the unthinkable happens. It didn’t even cross his mind that he would be coming out to the world and then getting engaged the next day. Not to mention loosing his v-card; especially after having it for thirty-three years.
Grad student, Gary Mason was on top of the world. While taking a nicotine break from the campaign phones for Senator Dalton, he happens to not only find out that he is accepted into veterinary school, but happens to run into the Senator. He never thought this moment would change his life forever.
However, when an innocent hug between the two gets somewhat taken out of context, life changes for the pair. Through campaign tactics (on both sides), supportive family and friends; Sam and Gary’s arranged relationship starts to turn into something more. The two realize that they enjoy each other’s company and the chemistry between them is undeniable.
I. Could. Not. Put. The. Book. Down! K.C. Wells did a great job not only capturing my attention, but she kept it to the very in the of book. The witty banter between the characters in the book had me laughing. With that said, I do wish Becky had more of a part in the book; I really did like her character. Not to mention the shenanigans that Gary and Sam get in. Oh, and their chemistry…. slow, but hot! Just an FYI, when I saw slow…. their first kiss is around the 63% mark and Sam doesn’t give up his v-card until around 83% mark. In the end, their world wind romance produces such a wonderful HEA.
