After a tragic accident, Lincoln West’s dreams of making it big as a guitarist fell apart. Unable to play music, he’s battling a hopeless downward spiral, and takes his friend’s offer to stay at their beach house for the summer. While at an open mike night at local bar Off Beat, he locks eyes with a busboy who doesn’t make Linc feel so broken anymore.
Emmett Westmore lives for the anonymity of busing tables in his aunt’s quirky bar where no one pities him for the fire that killed everyone he loved. He blames himself for the fire, and he doesn’t want anyone to see him—except for Linc. Emmett’s walls drop when he’s around the gorgeous blue-eyed guitarist, but he has a secret that could destroy his budding relationship with Linc.
Both Linc and Emmett are looking for a way to live again…will they let their fears control them or take a chance on something real?
Steady Stroke is yet another beautiful addition to the Off Beat Series. This book tells the story of two people who are connected in a tragic way and how their love is affected by the unexpected connection and how they fall in love in spite of all that.
Lincoln and Emmett are two characters who are easily lovable as we read their story. Music is central part of this story as in previous book and it is what helps them connect and bond through out the book. What I love the most about this series is that it is all coming of age stories and tells how two characters rise above what is holding them back and how they find the strength and courage to move forward in their life. Lincoln and Emmett are two characters who are bound by the incidents that happened in their past and that has affected them and made them who they are now. They both find that they have an unexpected and beautiful connection and explores it.Their past makes it possible for them to understand each other better and it enables them to be each other’s support. Their relationship was sweet and made me root for them through out the book. What I liked about them is that they were there for each other in the ways it mattered and supported each other to fight their demons. I loved everything about Lincoln and Emmett and they made me fall in love with them by the time I was done reading the book.
Steady Stroke is a beautifully written story with two wonderful main characters and equally good secondary characters with music as it’s backdrop. Another beautiful addition to the series. Can’t wait to read what’s coming next.
