Bissonet & Cruz Investigations: Book Three
Beau Bissonet and Tollison Cruz are back, along with Bruce, Auggie, and now Bastien, Tollison’s ex-partner. From the initial spark between them in Zurich, Bruce and Bastien’s attraction has flared, and Bastien has come to the Big Easy to explore what lies ahead for them.
It’s Mardi Gras, and New Orleans is alive and festive, teeming with excited tourists and locals alike. The first few parades go off without a hitch. And then a man is targeted, shot, and killed right in the middle of a crowded street. Auggie and Bruce are called in to investigate, but before they even get started, more deaths occur, one at each of the next two parades. Auggie realizes he’s dealing with a serial killer and jumps into action.
Beau and Tollison join the investigation and stumble upon some similarities in the murders that are too strong to ignore. But before they can unravel the perpetrator’s motives and get ahead of him, he fires another shot that affects the tightly knit group of friends in a way none of them could have ever imagined. Together they must all come up with a plan to stop the killing and serve justice in the process.
This is first book that I have read In this series and I have to be completely honest and say that I have been missing out if the previous two books are anywhere near as good as this book was. Scotty Cade blew me away with the book and especially one major event that took place.
This book in my opinion did not have two main characters like most books do but instead had four main characters. The series itself revolves around Beau and Tollison. But in this book it also revolved around Bruce and Bastien also.
These four men have such complicated pasts. They are so intertwined in each other lives and their is definitely good times in the past but there is also a lot of pain that is in all four men’s past.
Beau and Tollison are now life partners and they are also partners in their investigation company. But in the past Beau and Bruce where together and it ended horribly because Beau was neglective of Bruce putting his old job ahead of heir relationship and Bruce messed up by having a one night stand with someone else.
Tollison and Bastien were also together at one point and as like the other two men, it also ended badly between them.
So it is hard sometimes for both Beau and Tollison to except that their exams are together now but both men are trying to let go of their past and except their parts in them and move on and be happy for them.
When a serial killer starts killing gay men at Mardi Gras all four men plus Auggie are in the case trying to figure out who is behind it and catch the killer before anyone else dies. But they realize too late when one of the main characters is also targeted and does not escape the crosshairs of the killer.
Scotty Cade blew me away with this book. I enjoyed reading it so much that I will go back and read the previous two books even though I know the outcome. I was also blown away because it is rare that one of the main characters is actually targeted and hurt/killed like in this book. I like that Scotty brought a bit of reality to the book by making the characters more on the real side with how things turned out. I was also impressed to with how the book ended. Scotty pretty much left it where there can be another book in the works or if it ended with this one, Scotty made it seem like life went on and it ended that way.
This was a very good read and I hope there will be other books in the series. If so I will be the first to jump at it to read.
