Kidnap victim Alex Throne literally drops into the arms of security specialist Reese Holt, pulling Holt into a battle against a ruthless drug cartel, personal betrayal, and a specter from Holt’s CIA past.
Holt agrees to put his team of specialists on the trail of Alex’s assailants while he takes on the personal job of protecting the life he inadvertently saved, motivated, in part, by a romantic attraction.
Keeping his mind on protecting Alex could prove difficult, especially when he can’t keep his mind off Alex’s body.
This book is a true mystery. It has murder, kidnapping, drug lords, extortion, bodyguards, billionaires, ex military/CIA, and it has lust and love.
This book was full of all those things and so much more. I was blown away with the mystery behind everything and then even more blown away after the person or persons behind all of it was revealed.
But what really blew me away about this book was the immediate connection that Reese and Alex felt to one another. They did not even speak to one another, only looked into one another eyes and they were able to read each other and do accurately. That kind of connection is extremely rare.
The connection only got stronger the longer they were in each other’s company but so did the need that Reese felt to protect Alex from those individuals that was out to hurt not only Alex by Alex’s sister Toni. Alex’s father ends up hiring Reese and his company to protect Alex and try to uncover what is going on and who is behind the kidnapping and the reason behind it all.
Reese and all of coworkers do everything in their power to try and not only protect Alex but try to locate Toni and hopefully rescue her. The danger is increasing at each and every turn. Along with all of that both Reese and Alex are steadily having more feelings for one another. They both start to rely on one another and Reese for the first time in his life is starting to let someone else get close to him and is starting to believe they may have a future together.
The only standing in their way is the person or persons are still out there and they are still determined to get to Alex and for him to not come back alive.
This book was such a thrilling read. I started reading it around mid morning this morning and I could not put it down. Not only was their the thrill of the mystery itself but their was this thrill with watching Reese and Alex come together and become a couple. It is not often that I think a couple in a book coming together is thrilling but there was something so different about these two men that thrilling is the only and best way for me to describe it. Such an amazing read!!!
