Still firmly in the closet at the age of thirty, Ethaniel Shockley is content leading a solitary—if lonely—life working on a construction crew with fellow military vets. After a tragic worksite accident leaves two of his friends dead, Ethaniel returns to his family home to recuperate from a spiral leg fracture and severe Post Concussive Syndrome. He may be lucky to be alive, but he hates the independence he’s lost.

Matthew “Angel” Garrett has worked at Shockley Stables for three years, content to muck stalls and polish saddles, and to be as unnoticeable as possible. Except for weekly church outings, he avoids going into town so he doesn’t see The Look. The Look that says “I know you went to prison for killing a man.”

A chance conversation with Ethaniel gives Angel hope that maybe he can have a friendship with the gorgeous Shockley sibling he’s crushed on for years. But the more time they spend indulging in their shared love of music, the clearer it becomes that they both want more. Ethaniel sees a kindred spirit in Angel, whose soul just as fractured from his time in prison as Ethaniel’s is from war. But Angel has another, deeper secret that haunts him—one he’s positive will destroy this new song with Ethaniel before it’s even written.

Fractured Hymns is a sweet love story with two loveable characters which will capture your heart with the beautiful way their story is told. I fell in love with Ethaniel and Angel by the time I finished reading their story.

Angel works for Ethaniel’s parents in their ranch. Angel is shy and and is judged for his past. He stammers and he generally prefers to keep away from people and is content to work in the stables. Ethaniel is home recuperating after falling down and is having severe Post Concussive Syndrome. Angel has a crush on Ethaniel and a chance conversation starts their friendship. Slowly they find that they both have a beautiful connection. They both have their demons and both feel broken in their own ways due to their past. This is what gives them a chance to truly connect and develop their bond. The author has done a beautiful job in exploring their connection and developing their relationship. The way the both act almost like teenagers at times and the way they both are sweet to each other and slowly starts loving each other is just perfect and completely heart warming. But they have to face their share of struggles too and there is that secret Angel is hiding. They both work together to overcome their issues and the total acceptance they give each other has been portrayed beautifully. The author has given two characters who never had any hopes of finding someone to love, a once in a life time love and a beautiful soul stirring happily ever after.

Fractured Hymns will definitely capture your heart and tug at your heart strings in the beautiful way their story is told. Read this story for a wonderful reading experience.
