We all have tragic backstories in today’s world.
I wake up chained to the wall of a dark cell aware of two things: I failed my sister, and I smell my enemy.
When I’m taken to meet Dare, the alpha of the Silver Tip pack, I’m sure I’m about to lose my throat. The last thing I expect is for the Alpha to recognize me as his fated mate. No way is he going to let me go now, and I still have to find a way to rescue my sister.
As I plot my escape to save her, I find that if I leave, Dare could be killed by power-hungry members of his pack. And now he’s more to me than my fated mate—my heart is involved. With time ticking by on my sister’s life, I have to make a choice I never thought I’d face—my sister’s life or my mate’s? That’s if I can survive the undead shifters intent on killing me first…
Well I have now found another series that I will be reading as soon as it is available. And honestly I cannot wait to be able to read Bay’s story because I have a feeling it will not only be full of adventure but danger and hopefully a mate that will heal his broken heart because I honestly think his heart is broken.
As far as this book goes, there was so much that went on that normally it could have been easy to get lost in the story but Megan Erickson wrote it in such a way that did not happen. This story grabbed me and just would not let up. When the danger was close to any of the Silver Tip Pack I can honestly say that my heart would start racing and I was on the edge of my seat with worry for whoever was in danger at that point in time. That is definitely the work of an amazing author being able to draw a reader into he point of having a racing heart and worked up with anticipation of what was about to happen.
When Dare was first introduced into this book I truly thought that he was a real jerk. It was nothing in particular that made me feel that way but I think just his overall way that he carried himself and how he kept his emotions so closed off to others. But the more that I got into the book I seen a different side of him. The closer him and Reese became and the stronger their bond grew, the more of a caring and loving Alpha did Dare become. Even his pack started noticing the change in him. They was happy with the way Dare was as their Alpha before finding Reese but after and he change in him made his pack love him even more.
Reese, with proper reason, was extremely wary of Dare when they first met. After the treatment that Reese and his family went through with their old pack, it is no wonder he was questioning all of Dare and the Silver Tip Packs intentions. The more he got to know not only Dare but other members of the pack, I was able to feel Reese start to relax around his new pack and Alpha. I was able to feel when his feelings for Dare became more.
The main issues that I could see them facing was Reese’s former pack and them still having Reese’s sister captive and Reese not telling Dare about it. That was a major issue for them because in the end it put everyone in so much more danger when it came to going to rescue her because things had to be done quickly with little time to prepare or plan. So that caused a major wedge between the two men.
It also left Dare feeling betrayed by his mate for not opening up and being honest with him. The question that ran through of these men minds as they went into this dangerous situation was if they could overcome that rift or would it be better to let Reese walk away free to live his life as he chose too.
This book was so amazing on so many different levels in my opinion. It was full of adventure and danger. It was full of crazy hot sex between the alpha and alpha mate. There was emotional and trust issues between the two men that kept me wondering what way they was going to decide to go (whether to end their relationship or continue on with it). And then there was the element of watching these two men come together because of fate but staying together because of so much more. I can honestly say that this book was such an incredible read and that I am so looking forward to the next book in the series.
