Toby Kincaid loves being the junior librarian in his hometown of Sandy Lake, Ohio. He spends his days surrounded by books and chatting with the library patrons. He especially adores the head librarian, Mr. Miggles, who is kind, witty, knowlegable about everything, and hopelessly addicted to Christmas. Sean Miggles is also pretty cute—especially for an older guy who wears ties and suit pants every day.
But Sean keeps himself at a distance, and there’s a sadness about him that Toby can’t figure out. When Sean is accused of a crime he didn’t commit, he gives up without a fight. Toby realizes that he alone can save the library—and their head librarian.
Toby will need to uncover the darkness in Sean’s past and prove to him that he deserves a second chance at life and at love too. And while Christmas miracles are being handed out, maybe Toby will get his own dearest wish—to love and be loved by Mr. Miggles.
I love libraries. Getting lost in a story while surrounded by stacks and stacks of books is the best kind of stress relief for me. There is so much knowledge to be gained and so much joy to be had for any and every age of people here. And it’s best enjoyed when you have a dedicated, “die-for-books” and helpful librarian to guide you through this horde of knowledge. So, yeah you can say that I was ecstatic when I read this book. Loved the environment, loved the characters, especially Mr. Miggles. He is totally my dream librarian. He was cute, smart with such a huge heart and capacity to give love. I am totally fangirling right now!!!
This story touched me with its simplicity, love, dedication, feel of community, solidarity and most importantly the joy of giving. It gave meaning to the magical season of Christmas where hopes are born, dreams are fulfilled and love blooms like a Christmas miracle all on its own.
Toby Kincaid has been the junior librarian at the Sandy Lake library for the last couple of years. He loves his job and being near his wonderful family in Sandy Lake. In the beginning he has a boyfriend, a complete douche who exploits Toby’s generosity very badly. With time, he realises that he is in love with his sweet and amazing boss, Mr. Miggles. When Mr. Miggles is accused wrongly, Toby jumps feet first to aid him by rallying all the community in his support. He was the one to give Mr. Miggles the boost to fight against the injustice to him and the library. Toby was just plain amazing.
Now for Mr. Miggles aka Sean. He is the head librarian with a passion for books and with an equal passion to help others discover the wonderful world of books. Mr. Miggles has a troubled past which has shaped his life as it is now. He is lonely and carries a sad weight on his shoulders. He has a giving heart and never falters in helping out anyone who needs his help. Mr. Miggles is very formal with Toby but he had a crush on his junior librarian for a long time. He does not think he deserves the young and vibrant Toby. But Toby helps him realize that he deserves a whole lot more than he thinks possible. Mr. Miggles is like a big spects wearing teddy bear and I fell in love with him helplessly!!!!
This book revolves around a small town and small town politics. The library is in the front and center of the beautiful romance between Sean and Toby and also the main reason behind the union of a community. That last part where everybody comes together for their beloved library and librarian was amazing and a complete tear-jerker.
The story is completely told from Toby’s POV but I didn’t feel deprived of knowing Mr. Miggles. The author has done a wonderful job in describing Mr. Miggles as Toby saw him. He is an enigma whom Toby is determined to solve and he does succeed to do so wonderfully at the end.
I loved this holiday special very much. It lifted my spirits and put me in the right mood for the coming holiday season. I highly recommend this amazing book to everyone out there!!!
