A Heated Beat Collection

My Mate Jack

Will Barter’s been in love with his best mate Jack for as long as he can remember. They’ve shared everything: love, life, laughs, even Will’s first kiss. But Jack’s straight, and Will’s long-buried infatuation means nothing until their last summer together draws to a close.

Then one night, everything changes, but with Will bound for university in Leeds, and Jack for his dream DJ job in Ibiza, there’s no time to explore their blurred lines. Before long all that’s left are secrets, lies, and misunderstandings.

In the months that follow, anger and hurt overshadow fifteen years of friendship, and Will must dig deep to remember Jack is his mate… his best mate, and nothing matters more than that, right?

Lucky Man

As a diehard music fan, a dirty, smoky gig is Vice Squad Detective Danny Jones’s idea of heaven. While watching one of the most popular bands in Northern England, the sight of gorgeous rock star Finn McGovern changes his life forever.

Beneath the tattoos and leather jacket, Finn is kind and sweet, but when he confesses a dark secret to Danny, it tests their fledgling bond. Danny digs deep to accept Finn, but before long, a terrifying trail of death threatens to tear them apart before they’ve even got started.

A monster is killing prostitutes on Danny’s patch, and when a dead girl turns up too close to home, Danny discovers a heartbreaking link between the girl and his bright new life with Finn, a life he’ll do anything to protect.

This is not the first time that I have read these two books. With that being said, both books was just as good the second time around as the first time.

My Mate Jack is the first book in this bundle.

Jack and Eill have been best friends since they were 6 and 7 years old. Will has known forever he is gay and never hid it from Jack since he is his best friend. What Will never expected was for one night to have Jack tell Will to use him for his first kiss. This happened while they was still in high school and since Will has been secretly in love with Jack for as long as he can remember he did as Jack said. That night they spent in each other’s arms kissing the night away.

After that night, nothing was said again till after they had graduated high school and Will was getting ready to head to college and Jack was off to chase his dreM as a musician. Jack once again started talking to Will about the kiss from earlier in school that they had shared and started asking Will questions about sex between two men. This discussion led to Jack asking Will to take his virginity. Again will would never deny Jack and did just that.

Things from then on changed between the two of them. Years passed with Will longing to be with Jack and to Will’s surprise, Jack was longing to be with Will.

These two men was both hopelessly in love with each other but both afraid to admit their feelings to the other. It took years of denying what they both truly wanted before both men finally put on their big boy pants and set down and talked. I think Will always thought that Jack was only using him because he was convenient at the time. Jack was so scared to admit what he really wanted that he almost lost the one person he loved all his life. Their journey was not an easy one but in the end they found their path.

The second book was LUCKY MAN.

This book was more on the serious side because Danny was a vice cop and because Finn is a musician with schizophrenia.

Danny fell for Finn the moment he seen him on the stage at a concert Finn and his band was hosting. Finn was captivated with Danny also but Finn was worried his disease would scare Danny away so when he told Danny, Finn did the pushing himself to save hisself from being hurt.

Danny did not let that stop him though. He let Finn have some time to think and then he turned up and let Finn know in no uncertain terms that he was not leaving him because of his disease.

Being a cop Danny has seen a lot of bad things but the serial killer case he is working on has gotten to him. With each new body that turns up the more Danny is determined to catch the killer. They do finally get a break in the case. Ur not before a sister of one of Finn’s band mates becomes a victim also.

Between the case and Finn worries about his schizophrenia these two have a rocky path ahead of them. But they are both determined to make it out on the other side together.

Both of these books were a good read. I would not mind there being a third book with Jack and Will in it. I would love to see if they finally commit fully to one another. I love that Danny and Finn did not want to wait for life to catch up to them before they moved a step further in their relationship. They did it because it was right for them, not because it may or may not be the right time.

Really good read even the second time around.

Hello, I am an avid reader of male/male books. I do not have a favorite genre when it comes to male/male books because I love all of them from romance, dark reads, paranormal, shifter, threesome, whatever I see that catches my eye at the time. I read books about rock stars, CEOs, military, cops, and just the original plain old good boy types of books. Basically when it comes to a book, I read whatever I am in the mood for at the time. So my tastes varies from day to day and sometimes even hour to hour.
