Newly Expanded Version!

Willem’s lost his job and his boyfriend, and now possibly his mind when his cat calls him a nitwit.

Willem’s father never approved of his artistic talents, his choices in life, or the fact that he’s gay. When the only thing Horst leaves to Willem is the family cat, he thinks it’s his father’s last insult from the grave. That is, until the cat starts talking to him.

Though Willem’s lost his boyfriend, his home, and his job, Kasha, who claims to be a magic cat, reassures him that all will be well. All he needs is Willem’s trust and a good pair of boots. But giving boots to a talking cat has unexpected consequences when odd events ambush Willem at every turn, such as the appearance of a handsome stranger in his arms at night. While he begins to suspect Kasha’s plans might be dangerous for all involved, how can he distrust such a charming kitty in cowboy boots?

Puss in Boots meets I Dream of Jeannie in the land of fairy tales.

This was one excellent and unique story. The family cat turned out to be more than the family cat. Willem lost everything. His job, his home, his boyfriend, and his father, who died and left him Kasha, the cat. Kasha feels obligated to take care of Willem. He got them a house and provided food. He also tried to provide Willem a future, but his plan didn’t turn out the way he hoped. It actually backfired on him. This story has a HEA though.

Willem is a complex character. We know that he is artistic, so I was just assuming that he was also sensitive and shy and even a bit timid, but he was so much more. He also is assertive, commanding, caring, and loyal. For a little cat that talks, Kasha is a bit bossy, but in a good and caring way. He’s loyal to a fault and crafty for Willem’s good. He will also sacrifice everything for Willem. There is also a surprising twist to Kasha which I won’t reveal because I don’t want to spoil it for you.

This story is full of surprises. I read one section and it takes a turn and you bump into a big surprise. Made for a very exciting book.

I highly recommend this book. If you like fantasy books, talking cats wearing boots, fairy tales, and good triumphing over evil with an HEA, then you will love this book.
