When State Trooper Travis Kinslow is injured right before Thanksgiving, the only positive is that for once he won’t be working during the holidays. Since he has no family, Travis was absorbed into his best friend, Joe’s, and he considers them as good as his own. Everyone except Joe’s brother Noah. Travis has been in love with the younger man for much of his life, but he’s always kept his distance.

As an ER nurse, Noah is a caretaker by nature. When his brother’s best friend is hurt, he’s happy to help Travis while he heals. He’s only ever allowed himself to think of Travis as the next best thing to an older brother, but by the light of the Christmas tree, Noah finally sees Travis’s true feelings. And in that moment, everything changes.

When faced with opposition and a Christmas nothing like they imagined, will their hopes for the future be enough to carry them through?

This was a sweet short story about unrequited love. It is one of those stories where someone has been in love with someone else for as long as he could remember only to know those feelings where not returned in that way.

Travis fell in love with Noah when he was thirteen years old and has loved in secret since then. Now that Travis has been injured Noah is coming around to his apartment on a regular basis to check on him and his wounds and it is making it harder to hide how he feels. He knows that he should have only a brotherly love for Noah because Noah’s family is the only family he has and Noah’s brother is his best friend but he cannot help how he feels. All he can do is hide it and hope Noah never finds out especially since he has never seen that Noah returns his feelings in any way.

But something changes while Noah is helping Travis put up his Christmas tree and Noah notices for the first time something in Travis’s gaze he has never noticed before, Travis is in love with him.

To Travis’s amazement Noah has feelings for him too but has never acted on them because of the past shared history and he did not want to make a fool of himself. So to say this is a welcome surprise for Noah is not saying a lot.

The only thing that this couple finds that can stand in their way is Noah’s mom, Angela. What will become of this new relationship since Noah’s mom does not approve. Angela is the only mom Travis has ever had and Noah is not used to disappointing his mom. So what will they do?

This book was a great read. It was full of longing. It was also full of love and laughter. Heartache and disappointment. Acceptance and family. It has a little of everything that a good book needs. It may be a short story but it was a great one.

Hello, I am an avid reader of male/male books. I do not have a favorite genre when it comes to male/male books because I love all of them from romance, dark reads, paranormal, shifter, threesome, whatever I see that catches my eye at the time.

I read books about rock stars, CEOs, military, cops, and just the original plain old good boy types of books.

Basically when it comes to a book, I read whatever I am in the mood for at the time. So my tastes varies from day to day and sometimes even hour to hour.

Please comment! We'd love to hear from you.
