Most humans live in blissful ignorance, never dreaming of the frightening surprises and paranormal danger that lurks in the night. Most… but not all. These few who stand against the darkness are the Warders, men who fight demons and square off against all kinds of creatures from the pit with only their brothers-in-arms and their lovers-their Hearths-to strengthen them in the unending battle of good versus evil.

I am so glad that I decided to read volume one of the Warders series first. I would probably have caught the gist of. What was going on in volume two but I would have missed out some amazing connections and their coming together.

Volume one is based around three separate couples that are completely different but all share the same secret.

The Warders are a group of five men in each designated area that protect everyone from the things that go bump into the night. The are stronger and have more power behind e then a regular human that they protect but at the same time they need the same basic things in their lives as a human does and that includes food, sleep, sex, and last but not least love.

The catch, there is always a catch, is unless the human is the Hearth of the Warder being with a Warder can cause some serious damage. Things like rapid aging and even death in some instances and it only increases and yes worse the longer the Warder stays with someone that is not their Hearth. You can be friends with them and nothing will happen but the minute you cross the line from friends to lovers, the human better hope they are the Hearth or the Warder needs to get away from the human as quickly as possible so the reaction to them can reverse itself.

If you are the Hearth you are the single most important person to the Warder because you ground them and humanize them again. After all of the bad things that a Warder protects everyone from they need that special individual that they can go home to each night and love with all that they are. That person is what keeps them grounded and from losing their mind in the long run.

Volume one focuses on three of the Warders and the ones that they are meant to be with. Each story is different and each story is amazing. Mary Calmes has a real winner on her hands with this series thus far and I can only imagine that Volume two is only going to get better. I know I cannot wait.

Each of these stories definitely deserve being read because they were truly amazing. I can’t wait to read more.

Author

Hello, I am an avid reader of male/male books. I do not have a favorite genre when it comes to male/male books because I love all of them from romance, dark reads, paranormal, shifter, threesome, whatever I see that catches my eye at the time.

I read books about rock stars, CEOs, military, cops, and just the original plain old good boy types of books.

Basically when it comes to a book, I read whatever I am in the mood for at the time. So my tastes varies from day to day and sometimes even hour to hour.

Please comment! We'd love to hear from you.
