FBI team leader Samuel Shaughnessy and bar manager Machlan O’Bannon are exploring a new phase in their nonrelationship. The intention is to take it slowly, but power plays are still their favorite activity, and it isn’t long before lines begin blurring. After ending their friends-with-benefits agreement, no rules are left in place to guide them, and soon the only thing that’s clear is that neither man is fighting hard enough to reestablish the boundaries.
Their situations haven’t improved in the three months since their first encounter. Sam is still focused on his immediate family issues, and everything indicates Mac will have to go to war with his own family before he can reclaim his freedom. The last thing they need is additional complications.
But when the opening of a nightclub brings Mac to New York City and a break in the Leviticus investigation leads Sam to Houston, they discover how closely their worlds have been connected from the beginning. Hiding from the life-altering collision is not an option. They can take the easier road and go their separate ways or come to terms with their pasts and take a chance on each other.

I am completely, 100% hooked on this series. I have definitely found a new author that is at the top of my list for when one of Taylor’s books comes out. Especially if it is this series. I started reading book two this morning and could not put it down.
Just as in the last book there are many different points of view to this story but the two main characters are still Mac and Sam. And boy can I just say that I am completely head over heals in love with these two men. They may both have their secrets and their issues but they are just such an amazing couple.
In book two Mac and Sam keep working there way to actually being a couple. They are constantly doing the whole push and pull thing that they seemed to establish early on in their relationship but at the same time they are slowly getting to know one another better and their feelings are getting stronger for each other. This is not an easy thing for Sam but I think that he is finally starting to see the light of day and realize that what the two of them have together is very special and is a once and a lifetime sort of thing. I also think that he is finally starting to realize that walking away from Mac is not going to ever be an option for him. Just as it is not an option for Mac to walk away from Sam.
With each day that passes more things come to light in the case that Sam is working on and the more facts that come in the more sure the whole team is that they are slowly but surly closing in on Lev. Not only that but everyone on the team is also starting to realize that the case and the killer may be aiming much closer to home and to the ones that they love and are friends to them. It is very hard on each of the team members to not have caught this sick individual but they are holding it together and will not give up hope of catching him.
And Sasha just may have the answer they need to being able to at least finally identifying who the killer is after being attacked and surviving it.
The more Sam and Mac’s worlds intertwine the more both men come aware of the fact that they may have a lot more in common then they even realized. Not only do they have more in common but they have more people in common they would have thought possible and one person in particular could be the cause of causing a huge rift between them if they let them.
Secrets are revealed in this book left and right and how those secrets are handled will determine if friendships stay intact and if lovers will continue on to more.
Taylor did another incredible job on this book and I cannot wait for book three to come out.
