2nd Edition

When is it the wrong time to find Mr. Right? For David, that time is now. He’s caring for his homophobic father, who has Alzheimer’s, and his personal life is the last thing he has time to focus on. But when his father wanders off, David is forced to reach out to the police, in the person of Detective Travis Hart. Travis is gay, tired of the club life and twinks he can’t keep up with, and longs for a real relationship with a man who wants the same—maybe someone remarkable like David. In fact, David is exactly who he has been looking for, but Travis isn’t sure he can be the man David needs during this difficult time.

Because as David’s father sinks deeper into the disease that’s robbing him of his memories, David really needs a friend, not a lover. Though Travis is determined to support David in whatever way he can, David’s decision could lead both men into a situation with no possibility of a happy resolution.

First Edition published by Amber Quill Press, 2009.

This is such a heartbreaking story that sadly a lot of people have to face each and every day. But on the other side of the fence this story also about finding hope, love and finding your souls mate when you least expect it.

David has pretty much resigned himself to being alone for the foreseeable future. He had to move his father who has not only the onslaught of Alzheimer’s but is also a bigot about just about everything including the fact that David is gay. So David faced he fact that he would not be able to have a relationship or even date anyone until much later on for having to deal with the situations with his dad.

David never expected to meet the man that would change everything for him when he walked into the police station to report his father missing. David was helped by Detective Travis and immediately both men felt that they was kindred spirits. The more time they spent together searching for David’s father the more the attraction between them grow.

The problem was David knew that his situation would be just too much for anyone to deal with so he could not in good conscience accept the offer of a date with Travis but instead offered friendship.

This is exactly what both men need but they did not realize it at first. Their friendship blossomed the more they spoke and the attraction did as well until it came to the point that neither man wanted to pass the opportunity of a possible future together up.

David’s home situation started to seem as if it was finally getting on track when he was able to get a care giver (Maria) under the ruse of being a house keeper to help with his father. Things was starting to improve somewhat until it all came shattering down upon David like a building falling at rapid speed.

David’s father Alzheimer’s was quickly getting worse and it was to he point that he was becoming dangerous and then one day it all came to a halt when David Sr no longer recognized David as his son but an intruder instead and David Sr took matters into his own hands at protecting his home from the “intruder”. And now David’s life stands in the balance between life and death. Can Travisreach David in time and continue to build the life that both men hope to have together or will he lose David before the get to find out what the future holds for both of them?

This is a sad tell about the how Alzheimer’s can negatively not only the person who has this disease but also everyone who is around them. It is also a book that is about hope in a situation that will no doubt continue to get worse. My heart really broke for not only David but his father because he could not recognize his own son and each day was either a good day or another bad day. But I was also happy to read about the light that entered David’s life during the darkness and gave not only him but Travis hope for an amazing future together. This book was beautifully written. I look forward to more in the future by the Mia amazing author.

Hello, I am an avid reader of male/male books. I do not have a favorite genre when it comes to male/male books because I love all of them from romance, dark reads, paranormal, shifter, threesome, whatever I see that catches my eye at the time. I read books about rock stars, CEOs, military, cops, and just the original plain old good boy types of books. Basically when it comes to a book, I read whatever I am in the mood for at the time. So my tastes varies from day to day and sometimes even hour to hour.
