Scott Ashworth is a beautiful man and the hottest club host on the Phoenix gay scene. He takes what he wants, does what he wants, and does whom he wants. It’s a good life, but the journey to local popularity and fame wasn’t an easy one. For all that Scott’s looks are a blessing, at the same time they’re a curse—the source of his alcoholic mother’s inexplicable hatred.

Rylan Mahoney dreams of photojournalistic glory. He’s in Phoenix looking for the story of a lifetime, but the project isn’t coming to fruition. Needing rent money, he accepts a gig at Phoenix Pride hawking lewd lollipops and edible condoms…all while wearing gold lamé hot pants and a matching bow tie. When Rylan’s house keys and street clothes go missing after his shift, he’s desperate, until a stranger in a convertible stops to help.

The man is absolute sex on legs, and Rylan is jolted when he recognizes him—his stepbrother Scott Ashworth, long missing but suddenly larger than life. Scott is affluent and successful now, light years away from his hardscrabble days living with Rylan in a double-wide trailer deep in the heart of the Florida Panhandle.

Reunited after six years apart, Scott and Rylan are determined to put their past behind them, but fate may have other ideas and leave their future in jeopardy yet again.

Warning: Underage sexual interaction, mentions of abuse, cliffhanger ending. – As mentioned on publisher’s website.

What an amazing first book for this series. Be fore warned though it does end in a huge cliffhanger so if you hate waiting for he next book to come out then you may want to wait till it is available to read both books.

This book is really a two part book. The first half of this book consists of the past and the second half consists of the present.

First Part:
Scott Ashworth does not have an easy life in the least. His mother seems to hate his very existence and let’s him know it at each and every turn. Everyone in town is nice to him to his face because he is good looking even as a teenager but behind his back is a different story. Everyone knows that his mom is the town who’re and drunk and if you are looking for a good time she is your ticket. To make matters worse they are dirt poor and it seems his mom does not know the concept of birth control or the how babies are made to begin with. She is a mean drunk and she loves to take he hatred of her life out on Scott. To say that he has thick skin is to say the least or he would have never made it past being a toddler with her as a mom.

Unexpectedly Scott’s mom surprises him and introduces her new husband Ben to him and his new step brother Rylan. Ben is really a nice guy and Scott cannot figure out why he chose to marry his mom but what is is what is. Rylan is more then he expected him to be at first meeting and before he knows it,Scott actually has an alli in Rylan and a new friend, which is really unexpected.

Rylan is totally infatuated with Scott from the get go. The more the two get to know each other the closer they become and his crush on him grows. Before either of them expect it they are basically in a relationship with each other. Scott becomes the highlight of Rylands days and the best part of each of his nights.

But just like most things, crap happens and Scott is no longer their. Ryland is broken hearted by Scott running off in the night like he did but in some ways he cannot blame him for leaving the abuse he insures from his mother on almost a daily basis.

Ryland has graduated college and is now doing what he has to do to make his rent and still continue on with the thing he loves most, photography. In order to make his rent he takes a side job at pride weekend and at first it was good cause it was easy money. Or at least it was until someone stole his clothes and his house keys. Now he is stuck walking home in an itty bitty skimpy underwear. The person that comes to his rescue is the person. He never expected to see again, Scott.

To say he was shocked is an understatement and Scott is just as surprised. Neither expected to see one another again.

Scott is not the same person he used to be. Now he is a headliner for the VIP area in an exclusive gay bar. He is no longer poor and he has nice things. One would look at him and think that he has it all but reality is not what it always seems. Scott is lonely even with all the people surrounding him but he will never let anyone know that.

Ryland can see through Scott’s facade and is determined to what Scott really needs and that is his friend. It is hard for the old feelings to not arise for Scott but Ryland is trying to keep them at bay.

Things seem to be going good between them and things are somewhat still in the friend territory until the night that Scott breaks up with his would be boyfriend and things start to escalate somewhat between Ryland and Scott.

The question is where who they go from here and do they take a chance on the past repeating itself? Will RScott be ok after someone attacks him in the parking lot? Can Ryland let go of his past pain and heartache from the way Scott left him?

So many questions and so many ways this can go. But one thing is certain it will be a bumpy ride and one that I am looking forward to read about when book 2 comes out. Melanie Hansen undoubtedly wrote an amazing book 1 and I have a feeling book 2 is going to be even more spectacular. I can’t wait!!!

Hello, I am an avid reader of male/male books. I do not have a favorite genre when it comes to male/male books because I love all of them from romance, dark reads, paranormal, shifter, threesome, whatever I see that catches my eye at the time. I read books about rock stars, CEOs, military, cops, and just the original plain old good boy types of books. Basically when it comes to a book, I read whatever I am in the mood for at the time. So my tastes varies from day to day and sometimes even hour to hour.
