A Love Can’t Novel
Small but mighty—that could be Detective Nevin Ng’s motto. Now a dedicated member of the Portland Police Bureau, he didn’t let a tough start in life stop him from protecting those in need. He doesn’t take crap from anyone, and he doesn’t do relationships. Until he responds to the severe beating of a senior citizen and meets the victim’s wealthy, bow-tied landlord.
Property manager and developer Colin Westwood grew up with all the things Nevin never had, like plenty of money and a supportive, loving family. Too supportive, perhaps, since his childhood illness has left his parents unwilling to admit he’s a strong, grown man. Colin does do relationships, but they never work out. Now he’s thinking maybe he won’t just go with the flow. Maybe it’s time to try something more exciting. But being a witness to a terrible crime—or two—was more than he bargained for.
Despite their differences, Colin and Nevin discover that the sparks fly when they’re together. But sparks are short-lived, dampened by the advent of brutal crimes, and Colin and Nevin have seemingly little in common. The question is whether they have the heart to build something lasting.
Live is Heartless is the story of a detective and property manager who meet each other during a case and finds that they share a wonderful connection. The story talks about two people who are completely different and comes from different walks of life with different ideas and perspectives and how they find a beautiful love in spite of all that.
Nevin has had a less than stellar upbringing which has left him disillusioned about love. He does not believe in it and thinks that it’s better to stay away from relationships. Colin has had a wonderful, safe and loving upbringing and believes in love and happily ever afters. In normal circumstances a connection between two people with such different ideologies seems not possible but the author has created and developed a beautiful connection between them. What I liked the most was both of them took a chance on each other which was quiet opposite to their beliefs and fell in love. I really liked the way the author progressed their relationship too. It had a slow start and steady development. Their relationship starts off as just sex and slowly turns into love. I really loved the way their connection and bond deepened. The author had also done a wonderful job in exploring their sexual chemistry. Every thing about their story was endearing. The story also has a wonderful cast of secondary characters who contribute to the story quite well. There are a few familiar faces and I really loved Colin’s family. There is a mystery which is central part of the story and it was indeed intriguing. The author has mixed the elements of mystery with their love story really well.
