Ben Jenkins is a down-to-earth cop leading a quiet life in a big, empty house. Visits to the gay bars scratch an itch, but they don’t really satisfy, and though he’s used to the quiet, he recognizes that the empty feeling plaguing him of late is loneliness.
It takes a police cruiser and a ten-speed to bring him together with Reece Withers, a bike messenger and photographer who’s still waiting for his big break to arrive. Ben’s pretty sure what he’s feeling is love, but they both have old hurts that need to heal before they can live and live well… together.
Third read November, 2016 I can see how fussy I’ve become over the years because I was easily annoyed at the, I’m crying like a girl, bullshit, but this book still brings me to my happy place. Warts and all.
WOW! Just WOW!
This is one of those books that is ALL about the romance and nothing else. There are no car chases, mysteries to solve, break-ups, make-ups, drugs, vampires, aliens, homophobes or bitter ex-wives. Just two adorable men, both drifting through life, searching for something (or someone) to make their lives complete. They find each other and this book is the story of their journey. It is beautiful and magical and sweet and romantic and heartbreaking and will make you laugh with joy and cry with sorrow but leave you with the biggest, stupidest grin you have EVER grinned at the conclusion. (Especially when you finally realize what the title means.) I cannot say enough good things about this book. It is a M/M romance addict’s dream-come-true. Fuck yeah baby, it’s THAT good.
ETA: How did I forget my favorite part? Uh, duh! The sex people! The SEX! It was fucking AMAZING! Without losing one iota of the romance, these two boys striped the paint off the walls. Put the kids to bed, get a glass of wine and ENJOY!!!! You are gonna LOOOOOOOOVE the SEX!
