State troopers Ethan Brandt and Gabriel Donnelly are finally going to get their storybook wedding—sailing on an ocean liner to a castle in the English countryside! But when an Icelandic volcano scrambles flights all over the world, they must find alternate routes to the altar—separately.
Donnelly meets Sandler Birkin, a globetrotting courier who specializes in carrying rare artifacts and diplomatic pouches. He pulls a few strings to get Donnelly to the ship on time and then accompanies him across the Atlantic. Donnelly returns the favor by helping to find Sandler’s long-lost first love, Trevor Hendricks. Trevor’s controlling, homophobic parents have brought him to Europe for a radical treatment to cure him of his homosexuality—and his love for Sandler.
Brandt, meanwhile, finagles his way around the globe with the help of Kerry Mercer, a sales executive whose spirit of adventure leads her to accompany him on his improvised journey. However, sharing hotel rooms with her presents a problem for Brandt who, despite being about to marry a man, still finds her attractive.
Once Brandt and Donnelly are reunited, they band together with Kerry and Sandler to plot Trevor’s rescue. But doing so might mean missing their own wedding.
Man I just love these two men. Everything that could happen where they are involved usually does happen and then some. It is always an adventure where Brandt and Donnelly are concerned. Not to mention all of those that are around them.
These two men have finally came to the point in their lives together that that are ready to get married. Everything is planned, finally, after all the changes to their wedding day and both men are excited. The only thing left for them to do is get to their destination in England where they are to finally say “I Do.” Not a problem, or is it.
Brandt only has one last thing to do before him and Donnelly leave to board the ship to take them to England. He has to go to a conference and speak on the rights of gay people where the medical field is concerned. Everything is going great until Brandt is asked to stay an extra day to speak once more to another group and it puts him behind schedule and makes his schedule that much tighter. But none the less Donnelly openly agrees he should stay and then meet him at the ship afterwards.
No issue there right? Wrong. A freak of nature happens and a volcano erupts and stops air traffic from flying anywhere in the vicinity. Therefore airlines are grounded for many many days and Brandt has to come up with another way to get to Donnelly. That is where the lovely Kerry comes into play. She decides to take it upon herself to help Brandt to get back to his fiancé on time and to their wedding. It will not be easy.
Across the US Donnelly is not fairing much better because the airlines are grounded and he has no clue how he is going to reach Brandt and the ship. A white knight in the form of a man named Sandler becomes he new saving grace and decides it is his duty to help Donnelly reach his ship and his fiancé on time.
Through a series of events that are out of their control, Donnelly and Brandt are still not able to meet up at the ship together but instead closer to their final destination. Kerry and Sandler become both men’s confidents along the way and keep both in high spirits and on path throughout their trips.
Each man’s journey brings forth some different questions and doubts about their relationship. They both question whether this is the right decision or not.
So much standing in their way and at each turn something new happens to delay them even further. So the question is, in the end will they or won’t they get married after all?
This was an exciting read just as I have come to except when it comes to these two men. It worried me a few times when both men starting having doubts but in the end their love is so big and so strong that nothing could come between them. As always I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more in the future. Amazing book!!!
