Romance novels always end with a happy ever after. Right?
Evan and Adam are best friends, but they don’t know everything about each other. For one thing, Adam doesn’t know Evan writes and publishes gay romance novels until he discovers one while snooping on Evan’s laptop.
This revelation changes their relationship in ways neither could’ve imagined. Adam’s reaction to reading Evan’s stories is not what he expected, nor is the new way he’s looking at his lifelong pal. After all, Adam is straight, or so he’s always thought, and that is what Evan believes about Adam as well.
When Evan admits he might be bisexual, Adam suggests he try dating girls to find out for sure, but when Evan follows his advice, Adam is caught off guard by his feelings of jealousy. And when the date proves Evan isn’t bisexual, but gay, Evan’s request that Adam find him a guy might be the last straw.
How can Adam admit he wants that guy to be him? His epiphany will either end their relationship—or change it into something wonderful in their very own friends-to-lovers romance.
I found this short story to be so refreshing. The reason I say this is because it is about two young men that have best friends as long as they can remember but one is hiding something from the other. Or a few something’s to be exact. Once the secrets come to light there are some very life changing things that happen and through it all one thing remains the same, they will not let there friendship go.
Evan has been hiding a part of himself from his best friend Adam. The thing about secrets is they do not always remain secrets and they usually come out when you least expect it. That is exactly what happened to Evan. Evan has been writing and publishing gay novels for a while now but he did not feel comfortable enough to say anything to his best friend so he has kept it secret. Not has he felt comfortable enough to let him know that along with the writing he has also been questioning his sexuality also.
Out of the blue Adam finds out by accident about the novels and then from that point on Evan decides it is time to confess everything to his best friend and see if their friendship can remain entact. To Evan’s surprise for the most pasty Adam has taken it in stride with asking for the opportunity to adjust tho the changes that he has learned.
But what Evan does not know is that Evan woke up something inside of Adam that he did not realize about himself. After reading Evan’s work Adam finds it hard to not only be turned on by it but to be thinking about Evan and himself in the positions and circumstances that heread about in the books.
Adam comes to realize that he feels so much more for Evan but now he has to confess to Evan his true feelings. The question is will Evan accept Adam the same way that Adam accepted Evan? Will he be able to return the feelings?
This was a wonderful short story about two young men coming into their own. It is about friendship. It is about sticking by each other through thick and thin. It is about forgiveness when one messes up. And most of all it is about acceptance and love. That is the reason that I say this book is so refreshing. I really enjoyed this read and hunk others will feel the same way.
I hope next book in this series is a continuation of their new found relationship cause I would love to read more about them.
