The heart of Texas beats strong, fuelled by the love between two men whose lives are interwoven like the long grass of the hill country they call home.

Brandon Blackstun has spent the last decade moving on from the hellish halls of high school. With an invitation to his reunion in hand, he plans to show his former classmates that not only did the repeated occurrences of being slammed into lockers not cause brain damage, but he’s now a successful cover artist for the very books they buy off the shelves.

Tyler Synder was determined to not follow in his father’s footsteps as head of the International Corporation that bears the family name. Instead his heart is tied to the beat of his horses’ thundering hooves. He operates a breeding program for Tennessee Walkers and guest ranch a couple of hours from the urban luxury of Dallas where he was raised.

The two men might live very different lives, but the heat between them is hotter than any Texas sun. With the help—or meddling—of an unlikely pair of friends, the two explore a relationship that stirs something deep inside them. Distance and misunderstandings force Tyler and Brandon to consider whether the fulfilment they’ve experienced in each other’s arms is worth the sacrifice of the lives they’d built individually.

Texas may be the second biggest state in the union, but is it large enough to embrace the love between these two men or will their deeply hidden fears shatter the boundaries of their hearts?

The Artist and his Cowboy

Have you ever had a sweater that makes you feel comfy and good as soon as you put it on? That’s how this book is –  like an old comfy sweater.

Right from the start the author pulls me in. What really grabbed me was Brandon’s dialogue. The way he speaks makes me crack up. His relationship with his best friend was also very heartwarming and made me feel so welcome. It was like I was a fly on the wall watching this awesome friendship.

This story is great. If you love Cowboys you’re going to love this story. A young painter meets the cowboy of his dreams. They have a rocky start, but eventually get together. It’s great for many chapters, which include, meet the parents, meet the best friend, and the painter gets to frequently visit his Cowboys ranch. He also gets a horse of his own with riding lessons. Towards the end they get into a huge fight. Will they get back together again or not?

This book flows like a river. The Supporting Cast is awesome and they make really good sidekicks. The main characters are incredible and Brandon’s way of speaking is hilarious. I love it when the main character talks that way. The setting is beautiful; with being in Dallas, Texas, how can it not be.

The phrase Opposites Attract is true for this story. You wouldn’t think that a citified artist would be attracted to a country boy who loves horses and lives on a ranch, but he does. Brandon loves Cowboys. Everything about them. I was surprised at how quickly Brandon adjusted to ranch life, but he loves Cowboys so much, I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised.

This book is also as hot as a Texas sun. Once Brandon and Tyler get together the furniture has never been the same. They do it everywhere and in every position and as often as they can. Texas is hot has more than one meaning for them.

If you love Cowboys. If you love Texas. If you love ranches with horses, and if you love snappy dialogue, then you will absolutely love this book.
