Kip made a promise to Lucas that he’d come home to him after his tour overseas, but will Lucas be waiting for him like he promised?

Kip Foster is nearly finished with his tour overseas and is ready to leave the hot desert and constant threat of danger. He hopes to reunite with his lover, Lucas Danvers. When he calls to ask Lucas to meet him at their hotel however, Lucas breaks it off with him. Lucas no longer wants to be his dirty little secret. He says he’s waited long enough for Kip to make a choice and he hasn’t. Devastated, Kip realizes how much he loves Lucas and that if he’s to win him back he needs to do something big. He needs to not let hate and fear control his life. So he makes plans to start living life the way he wants to. Will Lucas still be waiting when he comes home though?

Publisher’s Note: This book has previously been released as part of the Brothers in Arms anthology with Pride Publishing.

This is the second time I have read this book. The first time it was in a bundle set but I am not sure which one. Regardless, of having read it before I went ahead and read it again because this is an amazing read.

What would you do if you had to choose between your career in the military and the man you are so in love with? Would you continue to keep hiding him in the dark like he is some shameful secret or would you finally come out of the closet and tell the world that he is the one you love and want to spend your life with.

That is exactly what Kip is going through. He has been with Lucas for four years now and regardless of that Lucas is still a secret. Kip’s family does not know and neither does anyone in the military. Kip keeps promising Lucas that he is going to come out but thus far it has not happened.

Kip and Lucas made a promise to each other before Kip was shipped out on another overseas tour. Kip promised to come back alive to Lucas and Lucas promised to be at home waiting on him when he got back. It is a promise both men intend to keep but Lucas has one request of Kip. He wants Kip to think about letting him be there at the homecoming all the men get when they come back from deployment.

Skip forward two weeks before Kip is due back from his deployment and he needs to hear Lucas’s voice again. So is fee call he calls him to let him know when he will be home. Before the end of the conversation the two have a huge fight about Lucas being able to be there with the other family members to great the returning soldiers. Pretty much Lucas laid it all out for him by letting him know that he has given him four years and that he cannot continue to be a dirty secret and that Kip needs to decide what is important to him.

This should really be he awakening that Kip needs but sadly it isn’t. Losing a fellow military buddy in a battle right before returning home is though and Kip decides life is too short and that he wants to spend his life with Lucas.

Is Kip too late? Will Lucas keep his promise to be waiting for him when he gets home? Can these two men finding their happily ever after together after all?

This is one of those books that I really enjoy because it is really close to reality. It is one of those books I can picture being a true story for some people, especially people who are in the military and staying in the closet for fear of not having anyone watch their backs while fighting for their country. It is sad that things are like that but they are. Anna Lee did an amazing job at telling this story and making it so close to reality. It was beautifully written and a very emotional story. It was an amazing read.

Hello, I am an avid reader of male/male books. I do not have a favorite genre when it comes to male/male books because I love all of them from romance, dark reads, paranormal, shifter, threesome, whatever I see that catches my eye at the time. I read books about rock stars, CEOs, military, cops, and just the original plain old good boy types of books. Basically when it comes to a book, I read whatever I am in the mood for at the time. So my tastes varies from day to day and sometimes even hour to hour.
