Never fall for your best friend…

Pushing thirty, with his reenlistment looming, decorated navy sniper Maddox Horvat is taking a long look at what he really wants in life. And what he wants is Ben Tovey. It isn’t smart, falling for his best friend and fellow SEAL, but ten years with Ben has forged a bond so intimate Maddox can’t ignore it. He needs Ben by his side forever—heart and soul.

Ben admits he likes what he’s seen—his friend’s full lower lip and the perfect muscles of his ass have proved distracting more than once. But Ben’s still reeling from a relationship gone to hell, and he’s not about to screw up his friendship with Maddox, too.

Until their next mission throws Ben and Maddox closer together than ever before, with only each other to depend on.

Now, in the lonely, desperate hours awaiting rescue, the real challenge—confronting themselves, their future and their desires—begins. Man to man, friend to friend, lover to lover.

“I ‘ve got your back. Leap with me, Maddox’s gaze urged. And same as Ben had followed him on their first dive, out their first HALO jump, he made a choice to believe in that. To leap. Together.”

This is definitely my favorite series by Annabeth Albert. After reading At Attention I was crazy excited for Maddox and Ben’s story. On Point did not disappoint, and it can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the first two books as well.

My highlights:

“Friends-to-lovers” trope, done incredibly well. The progression from friendship to lust, and, eventually, to love felt very real and natural.

I loved the narrative structure here. The bouncing between past and present, the flashbacks of the time the characters spent in the jungle benefited the story so much.

Lots and lots of UST! And when Maddox and Ben finally come together, it’s fireworks!

Lots of comfort-healing moments.

The characters. Both MCs are complex, but very well crafted. They even surprised me a few times. I knew that Ben had trust issues, but in the second half of the book it became clear that Maddox had his own insecurities as well.

-I don’t much care about action scenes in my romance, but I have to say that the first part of the book, with Ben and Maddox trapped in the jungle, was a masterpiece.

-I loved the cameo appearances of the other two couples from the previous books. I have all the love for Zack and Pike!

I’m so incredibly happy to see that this was not the last installment in the series, and that Dylan’s brother (from At Attention) is getting his own story! I’m really looking forward to it!

Mother, wife, teacher and READER. I read MM almost exclusively. My kindle is my best friend and the most important thing in my life after my son. My poor husband... I read MM romance almost exclusively. As a reader I don't have any hard limits except incest. I like Contemporary and Historicals and I rarely read Paranormal unless recommended...
