Aiden Bones was never normal. Awkward and lonely, he is riddled with insecurities. Seeking to escape it all, he attempts suicide. Yet there is one thing this suicidal man does not count on: magic. He mysteriously survives, and his jump off of a bridge becomes a dive into a world of flying broomsticks, wizards, and enchanted castles. But the world of magic is far from a paradise, and being born with magic comes at a terrible price.
Given a second chance, Aiden has no choice but to enroll in a university devoted to the study of magic. Aiden is hopeless, terrified, and ostracized, yet a wizard named Brant takes a liking to him, and agrees to take him under his wing. Brant is the man of Aiden’s dreams, but it is not the gay relationship Aiden had ever imagined himself having.
In a strange twist of fate, Aiden goes from trying to throw away his life, to fighting for survival.
This was a decent read. It is a sci-fi paranormal read. In being completely honest? I like to read books that are paranormal but this book was a little beyond the average paranormal read in my opinion.
I have to say that poor Aiden does not have a great life. It seems trouble follows him. In the beginning of this book Aiden is in the process of going to the place that he plans to comment suicide. He has a very low opinion of himself and he does not see anything good about living anymore. But his attempt to end his life instead brings him to a place filled with magic, fairies, wizards, witches and magic spells. It is so beyond the realm of possibility that Aiden has somewhat of a hard time believing it at first.
Even in another realm where magic is an option, Aiden still seems to find trouble. He has bullies that are constantly picking on him and people he believes will be his friend actually aren’t. He constantly has someone who is out to hurt him or to kill him. Brant is the only bright spot.
But even with Brant things are not always great. But in the end it is the love they find in the other that gives them both strength to face all the trouble that seems to follow Aiden.
This was a decent read but I will be honest and say I did find myself skipping over quite a bit of this book. I believe in order to really love this book you have to be a hard core paranormal lover. I love some paranormal but this was not my favorite read. I believe that some people will enjoy it but it is just not my type of book.
