Wade Porter spent his whole life in the shadow of a lover who doled out snippets of love and time as he saw fit—and who insisted that love stay deep in the closet. But now that man is gone, and Wade finds the oceanside cottage where they spent so many weekends together in the Florida Keys cold and empty. He has come one last time, not even sure he wants to keep living.
To his surprise, the house next door is occupied by another bereaved and lonely man. Kent Walker is an artist of romantic gay paintings who is open to the future—and determinedly interested in Wade. Kent wants to show Wade the beauty in being an openly gay man and the possibilities for a real relationship.
Maybe Kent can help Wade let go of the past and discover a better way to live—and love.

Two men. Both lost someone they loved. But they could not have had more different relationships with their former partners if they tried. Both men give the other a Nee Lease on life and love.

Wade meets Kent the same night that he is contemplating taking his own life. He mistakes the lights next door being own for being his former partner but by the time he comes to his scenes and realizeds their is no possible way it can be Gene Wade is Leeds on the front steps about to be introduced to Kent the new tenant.
Kent too knows loss. He lost his partner of ten years the year before to cancer so he understands he pin that Wade is feeling. Kent realizes that he can help Wade and decides that is what he is going to do.
After some time together and talking Kent realizes that Wade has no idea what a proper relationship should be like due to the fact that Wade and Gene’s relationship was so far from normal that it really should not have even been considered a relationship at all.
Can Wade let go of the past and learn to live in the present? Can Kent be the one to help him overcome his grief and teach him how to truly live for maybe the first time in life?
This short story was an emotional read about loss but it is also a read about learning to live again. It is a story about revaluations and figure out ones self worth. This is a very good, quick read. I truly enjoyed it.
