Successful underwear model Scott Ashworth is lucky—his attack at the hands of an unknown assailant will leave no visible scars. His professional goals are still within reach, and best of all, his stepbrother Rylan Mahoney is back in his life, their teenage infatuation at last getting the chance to deepen into something more.
Thrown together by the circumstances of Scott’s injury, Rylan’s long-dormant feelings for him are quickly rekindled, though he’s haunted by the memory of Scott’s disappearance on the night of his eighteenth birthday and the six missing years that followed. Rylan pushes Scott for the truth, a firm believer in the maxim that secrets lose their power once they’re shared—but resurrecting old demons almost always comes with a price.
Before Scott knows it, his life is spiraling out of control, his toxic insecurities welling up to threaten the fragile relationship he’s building with Rylan. Learning to let go of the past and believe in himself will be Scott’s greatest challenge, or else he risks losing Rylan forever this time.
See My Words is the continuation of Scott and Rylan’s story and picks up right from the end of Pieces of Me. This book is an exploration of the depth and intensity of the two characters and how they find each other against the odds.
Scott and Rylan are two characters who are deep and complicated. What is presented in the first book is only just a glimpse of them. This book truly explores the various facets of their personalities and how they navigate their attraction while finding themselves. Scott is very complicated and is having deep-seated issues. These issues affect him in a very basic level and he is extremely driven by them. Rylan is happy but deep inside he is having unresolved feelings about their past. They both have a lot of growing up to do and that is evident in how they take their relationship forward. I liked that they tired to sort out their issues while not giving up on each other. What I liked the most about this book is that it is as much as about finding themselves as finding a person with whom they fall unconditionally in love with. There is so much personal growth and they both grow and become a better version of themselves. I liked the epilogue where they were given their happily ever after. But I would have liked it if I could have read a little bit more about them. For some reason it felt like some things were unresolved or rather unsaid. This did not affect the enjoyment of the story and I did love Scott and Rylan just like in the first book, maybe more in this book.
See My Words is an emotionally captivating beautifully written continuation of Scott and Rylan’s story. They will capture your heart like in the first book. Reading the first book is absolutely necessary to understand the story. Highly Recommended.
