“He’s exactly what I never knew I wanted.”
“Delicious is my life.”
Owning his own business gives Gavin Campbell the sense of security that was sorely lacking in his childhood. He’s poured everything he has into making his bakery, Delicious, a thriving success… and it’s worked. Between his small circle of close friends and his round-the-clock work schedule, Gavin really doesn’t think there’s anything missing in his life. Or if there is, he certainly doesn’t have time to worry about it.
“I’d do anything for you. You know that.”
With his warm heart, outgoing personality, and generous nature, Ben Edwards is the walking definition of a people person. Everyone likes Ben, even the string of ex-girlfriends who wish they could have inspired him to want more than the casual dating that seems to be the only thing he’s capable of. Ben wouldn’t mind sharing his life with someone, but he has yet to meet the person who makes him want more.
“I want to be the one who takes care of you.”
When Ben asks Gavin to be part of a promotional campaign for the small, home town bank that has been in his family for generations, he inadvertently causes an accident that leaves Gavin unable to work. While Gavin worries that he’ll lose everything that he’s worked so hard for, Ben is blindsided by his unexpected attachment to the other man. Thrown together, both will find that just because nothing is missing, it doesn’t mean they can’t each find exactly what they need once they finally come together.
I liked this one just a bit more than the first book.
Gavin is the owner of the bakery Delicious and is working his ass off since he opened 18 months ago. His friends constantly tell him he needs to let his employees handle more so he can slow down a bit, but Gavin wants to make sure his baby is doing well.
When Gavin gets approached by his banker to have some pictures taken for a promotional campaign, Gavin jumps at the chance for some extra publicity for his business. Especially since it’s the handsome Ben Edwards asking.
Ben is convinced Gavin would make a good model for the promotional posters for the bank he works for. The family business needs people like Gavin, real customers who people will recognize and trust.
It’s not necessary for Ben to be present during the photo shoot, but he can’t seem to stop himself. He has no idea why but he just wants to be close to Gavin all the time. But when Gavin breaks his foot during the shoot, Ben feels awful since he was somewhat responsible for the fall. So when Gavin is done at the hospital Ben takes him home. To Ben’s home that is.
Gavin doesn’t know what to think about Ben’s proposal to stay with him while his foot heals. Even though Gavin knows he would have a very hard time with all the stairs in his apartment, he is not sure he can be around a man he is so attracted to. Especially since Ben told him he is straight.
But even though Ben feels confused about all the conflicting emotions, he knows he doesn’t want to let Gavin go after spending several weeks with him. Now he needs to figure out why that is..
I loved how Ben constantly took care of Gavin. As a ‘straight’ man he was very comfortable with touching Gavin. They were kind of in a relationship from the start, even though Gavin thought Ben was straight and Ben was feeling confused.
It felt very natural when Ben finally had his big epiphany. I especially loved the way he came out.
- No weird oh, how am I going to tell my family.. No, he just blurted it out when he figured it out himself (during family dinner).
We got sweet, yet hot sexy times to go with this adorable romance, so overall this was a very nice fluffy read.
