“I snap a picture and realize that this is the first time I’ve seen him this excited about something as small as catching a fish. This is the first time I’ve seen him not have a care about anything in the world. In this moment, he’s fearless, and I’m in love.”
Ethan Alexander has finally found the love of his life in Cody Monroe: the muscled nurse who, by all accounts, is exactly what Ethan deserves in his life.
When Ethan’s past comes back to haunt him, however, the love these two have created may not be enough to save him.

Trigger Warnings: Domestic Abuse, mental and physical abuse, PTSD
I am so glad that more and more authors are taking the time to write books about this very serious subject matter. Domestic abuse does not know genders. It happens whether you are a man or a woman and it is something that too many people go through, sadly enough.
Ethan is the main character that was abused by his partner. After three years of it he finally got the courage to leave and start a new life. But the thing is just because someone is able to get out of the situation, that does not mean that the long lasting affects do not follow you, as Ethan very well knows.
Ethan has done what he could to put his past behind him and he has done a god job at it because he met Cody and was able to let him into his life. The only problem is one: he has not told Cody about everything in his past with Rick and Two: it seems that Rick has come back to finish the job he started when they was still together.
Cody is amazing in the aspect that not only does he support Ethan when Ethan opens up to him but he also vows to protect Ethan from the abusive man that took Ethan for granted and he also vows to love Ethan for as long as Ethan will allow him too.
When the danger increases and it seems that the person behind it is not going to stop, Ethan’s family and friends stand behind him and Cody and try to offer up as much support as they can. Will it be enough or will Rick be able to get his claws in Ethan again and finish what was started when they got together.
This was not an easy read because of the subject matter but I am so glad that I read it. It was sad and scared but at the same time it is nice to see that Ethan was able to move past the trauma of the past and find a new healthier life for himself.
