Sometimes life breaks you, suffocates you, and it takes someone incredible to help put you back together.

At eighteen, Ryan had everything he ever wanted. He was wildly in love with his best friend and Chris loved him back just as much. They’d both been accepted to the same university and Ryan had their happily ever after all mapped out in his head.

One miscommunication, one tragedy, profoundly changed the course of Ryan’s life. Left him shattered and broken, unable to recover. The night Chris died, Ryan lost everything. Chris was his entire life and without him, Ryan was numb.

At nineteen, Ryan was barely making it through the week. On weekends he crashed in a flaming wreck of alcohol and guilt. Torn between feeling too much and feeling too little, he was trapped in his memories. Drowning in them.

Until he met Liam, and then for the second time, Ryan’s life dramatically changed.

This is a book about how one event in someone’s life, one moment in time, can take everything that we once thought and once loved and change it all in a blink of an eye.

That is exactly what happened to one of the main characters. Ryan thought he had it all and he did until that one moment changed everything for him and he lost not only his best friend but the love of his life in the blink of an eye. After believing that his boyfriend, Chris, cheated on him and Ryan left the party they was at he gets the phone call that will set his life on a whirlwind of guilt, anger, regret, doubt, and a huge downward spiral that Ryan feels like he will never be able to recover or move on from.

When Ryan gets the call that Chris was killed in a car accident Ryan’s world is turned upside down and he feels responsible and like he will never be able to move on from it. Ryan goes into a major depression that he tried to hide from everyone around him. He lives through the motions of each day but never fully feels the things happening around him. He is just there and he can’t let go.

After another night of drunkenness Ryan finds himself in a situation that could potentially kill him if not for someone he has never met before. Liam steps in and saves the man that looks to have so much pain and heartache in his life. Liam wants to wrap this man in his arms and try to make everything better but knows that it is not possible. This is the night that Ryan’s life will once again change in the blink of an eye. This is the night that someone, a stranger, steps in and comes to his rescue in more ways than one. This is the night that will set forth events in Ryan’s life that will lead him down a path to either continue to self destruct or to a new beginning. Ryan just has to decide which path to take.

This was a heartbreaking read that left emotional scars on the main character in more ways then one. The pain and guilt that Ryan felt was so overwhelming that I was not sure he would be able to recover. A.D. Lawless did an incredible job on this book. It was a book that captures you from beginning to end and leaves the reader feeling every emotion. Amazing read.

Galley copy of Breathe Our Slow provided by the author in exchange of an honest review.

Hello, I am an avid reader of male/male books. I do not have a favorite genre when it comes to male/male books because I love all of them from romance, dark reads, paranormal, shifter, threesome, whatever I see that catches my eye at the time.

I read books about rock stars, CEOs, military, cops, and just the original plain old good boy types of books.

Basically when it comes to a book, I read whatever I am in the mood for at the time. So my tastes varies from day to day and sometimes even hour to hour.

Please comment! We'd love to hear from you.
