Micah Finn Rawlings has lived most of his life blind, sheltered, and craving adventure. Now, at twenty-two, an operation has given him his sight back and he’s ready to take on the world.

Well, sort of.

His newly restored vision isn’t exactly all that he’d hoped it would be, but he’s definitely not going to let that stop him…. even if he does tend to trip over his own feet, have a slight problem with depth perception, and occasionally (okay, maybe a lot) get himself into situations that result in public embarrassment. Still, a few scrapes and bruises are a small price to pay for finally getting out there and living, and given that he has the best luck ever, even the most awkward moments tend to turn out pretty well in the end.

Proof? Tripping and falling at the feet of the hottest man he’s ever seen. A man who’s definitely interested in him, too.

Well… probably.

Actually, Micah has no experience whatsoever with such things and isn’t really sure, but a boy can hope, right

HMC Zach Hunter, Medical Corps, U.S. Navy is many things. A patient man. An adrenaline junky. A bisexual serial dater going through an extended dry spell.

Losing a few good men to an IED inspired a come-to-Jesus moment of clarity for Zach, and ever since, he’s been looking for love. Dating any- and everyone who sparks his interest in the hope of finding something that, frankly, he’s not entirely sure exists.

At least, not for him.

The only problem? There hasn’t been a spark. At least, not the kind Zach’s holding out for. He’s not discouraged, though. Zach has no problem putting in some effort for the things that matter, and he knows that all good things are worth the wait.

Besides, it’s not like he can expect love to just fall at his feet… right?

This was quite a disappointment.

Micah has been blind since he was 5 years old, but he recently he had an operation which allows him to see now. But he has been blind for 17 years, so his brain is having a hard time interpreting what his eyes now see. And that’s why Micah is always stumbling into things or tripping and falling. But that doesn’t deter him in the least, so Micah just goes out there and experience what life has to offer him.

And that’s how Micah one day meets Zach, when he literally falls at Zach’s feet. Zach is a Navy friend of Gabe, from the first book. And he is ready for love now that he is almost 30. That’s why he has been trying to find the right person by going on date after date. But when he meets Micah he know it is different this time.

When these guys meet it’s like they’re both struck by lightning, and when Zach asks Micah on a date, Micah immediately says yes…

I really liked how this started. Micah was super cute and had no filter at all. We also had the super hot smex with a total virgin, so that was a big plus too.

But I slowly got more and more unhappy with Zach. I started to feel extremely irritated when he was feeling sad and didn’t tell Micah that. And when the beach scene happened, all I could think was

that Zach should just tell his stupid ex to get lost. But instead he just let her close and didn’t correct her enough when she said they could try again.

I can do an awful ex, I really can, but this was just ridiculous.

Janis was such a horrible person. She didn’t even try to be friendly. And Zach was thinking about how he did enjoy the time he had with her while she was trying to literally crawl into his lap, that was such an awful scene.

And don’t get me started on the whole ‘Janis is pregnant with Zach’s baby’ thing. Zach just let her walk all over him. And instead of him doing the groveling, Micah went after him to make things right. And why did he believe he actually cheated on Micah after the loving weeks they had together?? I lost all respect for him after that.

And that’s how I ended up thoroughly disliking Zach. He should have grown some balls.

This had all the drama and stupid relationship angst, while I would have been happy with just Zach, the tough Navy dude, falling in love with clumsy Micah, who just got his sight back. All the rest was unnecessary imo.

I’m going with 3 stars because Micah really was adorable.
