A Shifter U Tale

A smitten coyote isn’t the only one stalking Buffalo Bill.

A buffalo walks into a cafe. Sounds like the start of a bad joke, but for coyote shifter Donnie Granger, it’s the beginning of an obsession. Donnie is a little hyperactive and a lot distractible, except when it comes to William. He finally works up the nerve to approach William but is interrupted by a couple of violent humans.

While William—don’t call me Bill—is currently a professor, he once worked undercover against an international weapons-trafficking ring. Before he can settle into obscurity, he must find out who leaked his location and eliminate the thugs. He tries keeping his distance to protect Donnie, but the wily coyote won’t stay away.

It’ll take both Donnie’s skills as a stalker—er, hunter—and William’s super-spy expertise to neutralize the threat so they can discover if an excitable coyote and a placid-until-pissed buffalo have a future together.

This was a very interesting read. At first, even though I love shifter reads, I was doubting my liking to this book. Then the more I read the more I found I was really getting into this book. Before I knew it, I was at the end. So long story short, this turned out to be a really good book with a lot of humor and some danger.

William is all that he seems. He seems to be a boring individual that enjoys his quiet, alone time in Buddy’s, a coffee shop that he frequents. He is a professor at the university nearby and rarely does he stray from what looks like a normal schedule for himself. Or so everyone who has met him recently thinks. Behind the facade there is someone who knows how to track, trap, and make himself into someone completely different. After years of undercover work he should know how to do all this and so much more.

Donnie works at Buddy’s and has had a huge crush on William since he met him. He just has not had the courage to tell him much less really talk to him. But on the day that Donnie finally gets the courage to approach William, after the fact something happens. Two men who are completely out of place show up looking for William. Donnie realizes immediately that something is not right with them and that he needs to warn William.

Donnie does not realize the anger that he has just put himself and everyone he knows into. The only one who can save them is William.

Can Donnie and William come together to figure out who these two men are and why they are now in danger before it is too late?

This read really was comical with the element of danger. I really enjoyed both aspects of it plus throwing in Donnie and William figuring out how to work not only together but figure out if their budding relationship was going anywhere.

I look forward to more books by J. Leigh Bailey in the future.

Hello, I am an avid reader of male/male books. I do not have a favorite genre when it comes to male/male books because I love all of them from romance, dark reads, paranormal, shifter, threesome, whatever I see that catches my eye at the time. I read books about rock stars, CEOs, military, cops, and just the original plain old good boy types of books. Basically when it comes to a book, I read whatever I am in the mood for at the time. So my tastes varies from day to day and sometimes even hour to hour.
