Their love is forbidden, but their hearts aren’t listening to rules and regulations.

Lieutenant Dustin Strauss is a reformed man. No longer a twentysomething hell-raiser, he’s his SEAL team’s new XO-and a man with a secret. Or seven. He’s kept his bisexual identity under wraps for years, along with his kinky side and a fondness for the military-themed semianonymous hookup website Joe4Joe. His latest chat buddy is more than a sexy online distraction-they’re taking their very not-safe-for-work relationship into real time.

Petty Officer Wes Lowe has a smart mouth, a take-charge attitude and an uncanny ability for making things go boom. The life of an enlisted man isn’t always enough to satisfy him, but one wild, no-questions-asked weekend with his online love comes close. When a transfer order comes in, Wes feels ready and centered. He’ll make a good impression on his new SEAL team and keep his growing feelings for Dustin on the down low.

But as they log more time online and some very real emotions surface, Dustin and Wes struggle to pretend they’re just a harmless fling. And when his commander introduces Dustin to his team’s newest member, they’re in for the shock of a lifetime…and a crushing disappointment: their difference in ranks means even a friendship without sexual contact could end their navy careers for good.

With their hearts on the line, Dustin and Wes may not survive their next mission, let alone find a way toward a future together.

We met Dustin in At Attention as Dylan’s older brother, and Apollo’s best friend. When I saw that he was going to get his own story I was over the moon! Wheels Up did not disappoint!

Turns out that Dustin is bisexual but he hasn’t explored this side of himself yet. But for the last few month he has been talking online with someone, through a military themed app.

What I loved:

-The online relationship. I’m a firm believer that online friendships/relationships can be as real and strong as real life ones.

-That first weekend when Wes meets Dustin for the first time. Very realistic and sexy.

-The sex. Holy hotness Batman! Crazy sexual chemistry with just the right amount of kink. Dustin might be in control at work, but he certainly likes to give it all up in bed.

-Great bi representation.

-The angst is as real as it can be. There really is no way for Wes and Dustin to be together unless they want to ruin their careers.

-Wes’s sister. I loved that storyline. I think it added a lot to the book overall.

What I didn’t love:

-There’s A LOT of push and pull here. As time goes by, and the MCs realise that they can’t stay away from each other they keep going back and forth. Up to a point, I liked that. After a while, though, it got kinda old and I wanted them to move on.

Wish granted because shit finally hits the fan and didn’t that bring all the feels!

-I was a little bummed that I didn’t get to see more interaction between Dustin and his brother, Dylan or his friend, Appollo. There is a brief scene buut it felt shallow.

All in all, this was a winner. Out of Uniform is definitely one of my favorite series by Annabeth Albert.
