Love dogs and smoking hot men? The Love Off Leash series is for you. Unrelated stories. Shared theme of new love and pets.
Can this romance stand a snowball’s chance in hell?
Hitting a dog in a snowstorm is a heck of a way to meet a guy. When August Long rushes an injured stray to the vet, he’s blown away by the gruff yet sexy doctor. August never intended to hook up with a small-town local, but Eric Grover woos him with snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and a passion hot enough to melt the winter snow.
No one seems to know why an ex-military surveyor has moved into Hopewell Springs, and Eric is intrigued by the Southern stranger’s charm. Tall, handsome August lights his fire while filling a need for companionship he hadn’t realized he lacked. Spending time with August and Bear, his recovering German shepherd, makes Eric begin to believe love is possible.
But there’s a shadow threatening their budding romance. August fears telling Eric everything his job entails and keeps the secret until the truth detonates, nearly destroying them. For the two men to reconcile their differences, it may take a Christmas miracle—and the intervention of an adorable dog or two.
Love Off Leash series are stand-alones so they can easily be read out of order.
Blurb sums the book quite accurately so I won’t rehash. And with it being a novella, I don’t want to give away too much.
I enjoyed this for its predictability – you know from the onset what’s going to happen and for me, that means I can just sit back and let everything just unfold. It’s classic boy meets boy, boy likes boy, boy dates boy, boys have a Big Misunderstanding right before the holidays…
A there are dogs and the boys love their dogs. The dogs in this add just the right touch. We have Polly, a one-eyed rescue that belongs to Eric. Through an unfortunate accident, August finds Bear. While not intending to keep the dog, but willing to pay for his post-accident care, they form a bond. I liked watching Eric and August interact with and through their dogs.
This is a Holiday feel good story and I really hate to pick it apart too much. I had one tiny issue with how long Bear was in a cast for a fractured leg, and, this is my quirk, I really dislike the knee-jerk Big Misunderstandings.
So curl up with your favorite hot Holiday beverage, find your warm fuzzy blanket, and curl up with this latest installment for a few hours of some hot guys and their furry four-legged fuzzy buddies.
