Valis works as a man possessed, but there’s no outrunning the past.
In war training, Valis advances quickly, but in magic training, he’s lucky not to blow himself up trying to wield his dual magic. Constant growth spurts make him outgrow his training armor and his attraction to his mentor, Tavros, rising to molten levels puts Valis under added pressure.
And there’s one more problem Valis can’t seem to shake—his birth father, Roba. He demands Valis pay him a visit in exchange for information, but his request is one Valis can’t accept.
But Roba is not a man who deals well with being told no, and he will do everything in his power to get his way. And his way may just haunt Valis forever.
The M/M romance in God Jars is a very slow burn. The God Jars Saga contains explicit material including violence, abuse, and M/M sexual encounters, and is not advised for anyone under the age of 18.
This series just keeps getting better and better with each book. And each book has left me wanting the next book right away. This book did the same. The more I learn about Valis the more I like him.
When Valis was first introduced in this series, he was not even half the person that he has become. He was beaten down and had no self confidence whatsoever. But over the course of these books I have watched him emerge from his shell and become a completely different person. Yes he is not all that confident in using his powers yet but even that is getting better and stronger for him.
I think this transformation is due to Tavros more then anyone else. He not only pushes Valis to become better at his training but he also knows how to comfort Calis when he is feeling overwhelmed or when he is not confident in something that he is doing. In my opinion Tavros is the one that Valis is meant to end up with.
Major issue there is Aryn has gotten it in his head that he is in love with Valis and he is turning more aggressive towards his brother Tavros because of how close Tavros and Valis is concerned. I am not so sure that if Tavros and Valis are mates that Aryn would not do something to one or both of them. I can see that Valis is becoming an obsession to Aryn and that is not a good thing since Valis does not return those feelings in the least towards Aryn.
With this book more secrets have been revealed and more questions as to what is going to happen next have arisen. I cannot wait for Support to come out and I pray that Thyran’s visions do not come to light since Valis’s has a hint into what is store for their future.
This was truly an incredible read and I cannot wait for the next read. Devon has definitely got an incredible series with this series. It is definitely a winner.
